Video Problems, in all formats...
« on: September 24, 2004, 09:09:03 pm »

OK, now i know that this must have cropped up before but i have been trawling the boards for an age and havent found a solution. I can upload videos in any format, however when i go into the album they reside in i can see the tumbnail and open the next page, however where the video should be is nothing. Every now and again i get an error saying that the format is incompatible. This happens with all multimedia file formats and i definatly have support for them.

If anyone can help me out... let me know! Thanks

Thats the link to the test file i put up. It always tries to play the file through real player opposed to media player or any other format.

It worked fine in IE 6 SP2 with Media Player. Maybe RealPlayer made itself your default player.

In Firefox, it required a plug-in but when I tried to download it, I got an error message that said no suitable plug-in was found. How about trying the mod that provides a download link for video files? So, if the browser can't play the file, people can download it and play in the suitable player.

Hmm, thats annoying! Thanks a load for testing it out for me though! It is nice to know it is me rather than the software!

Just on the off chance, and i know i shouldnt ask here... but do either of you know how i can change the default client that plays multimedia for the browser my veiwers use, or put in a streaming window, to garentee my veiwers can see the files?

Any ideas would be apperciated, and thanks again for your help!

Andrew

p.s. If possable could you link me to the thread to put the download link in? If you have it handy... I am looking for it now!

Ok, i guess this is sort of relevent. how would i get coppermine to display movies like this

http://www.telekorn.de/demo/photokorn/index.php?action=showpic&cat=34&pic=72

opposed to what i get

http://www.flatsphere.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=1&pos=25

(if it works for you, what i get is the media player window with a blank screen and nothing happens when i press the play button)

Please help me... i dont know how it get it to work..
Can i make it stream? I just want it to work!!
Thanks again!

I am having a similar problem, being unable to display avi files, both in IE or firefox.  All other formats work as expected.

I have the same result with these as TranzNDance had. No suitable plugin.

Don't think this is coppermine related though.
