There are several programs that just batch watermark files as described by this tutorial. All you need is a watermark file (jpg,gif,png) from psp or photoshop and load a folder or drive into these programs and you can tweak the settings to wazoo everything from opacity to posititon, and rotation. Or create an action in photoshop and have it batch run a folder for you as well with the same watermark technique in this tutorial... great find lancefiasco.

I can recommend Picture Shark (http://www.picture-shark.com/) as desktop app to batch-add watermarks to a whole bunch of files at once. It has optional opacity settings for the watermark, preview etc. and is free.

The watermark keeps showing up with a gray background!

Using Picture Shark (with transparent background), it shows up gray instead.
