Is there a way when viewing photos in the photo album to be taken back to the main photo alum page (coppermine/index.php)?

You should have a breadcrumb nav bar at the top of the page eg.

Home > User galleries > niki2020 > New album
If you don't, add 'breadcrumb' into the start of the content of the page section in config.
