Title: a few questions
Post by: floriauck on July 29, 2004, 04:46:39 pm
hello,

i am thinking about using this product for a photo album on my web-site. Because of some specific needs that i have with my project i would like to ask a few questions:

1.) Can I assign pictures to more than one categorie?
2.) I already have the full size picture and the thumbnail for it. Can I use my own thumbs or does coppermine make its own thumbs?
3.) I looked at a couple examples and the online demo. Can the coppermine prouduct be stripped down a bit? I dont need "Random File" "Last additions" "multimedia" .. I just want to display my pictures and the categories.
4.) is there a generic template? Or can the templates be changed to fit the look of my existing site?

Pretty much I am looking for something where I can assign picutres in more than one category. I want to display thumbnails and then a full size picture if clicked .. And it should be easy to upload new photos. It should match the look and feel of my site (edit the templates).

Maybe the coppermine product is even to sofisticated for my needs? Or does it fit what i am looking for? You guys would know, because you use it and have the experience with it.
If you think I would be better off using something else, i am open for suggestions..

thanks a lot,
appreciate

florian

1) With 1.3.1 you cannot with next version 1.4 you will be able to
2) Coppermine makes it own thumbs BUT there are ways to allow custom thumbnails
3) Yes - read the docs after you install
4) Yes - the classic and the style guide theme are considered generic

The best way would be to install and test for yourself
