Post by: Laugesen on October 19, 2003, 07:37:13 pm
E-mail notification when a  guest/visitor write an comment

And Email notification when a user uploads a picture.

Both function in configuration as an ON/OFF choice.

Laugesen: That sounds like a novel idea, but isnt such a feature not practicle for *many* users. I trust you mean the site admin gets an email when these things happen? That sounds like alot of emails too me....  :?

Not at all... If U get to many emails, then U just unmark in configuration, but for some of us, it would be a VERY nice feature

This is a "must have"......

Just as a turn off/on function in the setup-menu.

Then I would´nt have to look every hour for new comments  :D

- just cause I have´nt anything else to do

@ QT_Nadia: Fair enough then, but its academic, for if you have nothing else to do then why cant you browse the comments manually? ;) .

I agree it would be a nice feature.

Maybe someone should really catalogue these requests for I see they are growing by the day! Mine included.... :)

(i am sure the dev team have a to do list, and whilst our feature reqs. are valued there may be more important things needed that we dont know about... I would imagine there is ALOT of code to be done in the cpg script that doesnt have anything to do with our feat. req's.)
Title: Why...??????????

John, I thoght I´ve made myself clear WHY...... and maybe you should get some sense of humor....?????

Don´t you have something better to do, than criticise peoples requests? I find your replies very needless.

ok then, sorry for my post!! I thought mine had humor in it also! misunderstandings on my part probably  :?

To conclude: please note above I agree it would be a nice feature, and I support its application, no criticism has been intended.

 and who gives you the right to judge other's sense of humor?

Instead of talking about "must haves" and boasting how busy you are, why don't you just code it and share with us?
Laugesen and John have both proven their willingness to help - you have not done that so far...

Why not a block with the last 20 comments with date ?
Then you see it directly without email notification :D

It seems to me you completly have misunderstod the concept of willingness to help!!!!!!

If I did´nt give a s... about Coppermine and its functions, then why should I suggest things that maybe could proven the whole system?????

Johns answer to both me and Laugesen was filled with criticism, instead of just see our suggestion as a possibily. I´ve read his answer, and I think that we now understand eachother!!!!

But now I´m really sure in what to do in the future, NEVER return into this childish forum.

By the way.......... you would never know how much I actually have helped in my short time of member of this site.

BYE!!!!!

jeez kids, play nicely... we're all civilised people, are we not?

I came to the board to suggest this exact features...especially for uploaded images.  An admin notification of new images to approve is a sorely missed feature in this gallery, and hope it will be implemented too.

And John, I'm on your side... i saw the humour in your post, and dont think Nadia had any reason to lose the plot at you.  I'm thinking it was just that tiime of the month for her (and therefore she can be excused from any actions whatsoever that happened on that day, and 1 weak either side of that day).  hehehe

I had added Email notification of  comments some time back to devel in CVS

We can mark this feature as [done] ?

You can browse the text files, etc. by following the Project>Browse CVS>devel links.

For easy downloading of the entire CVS package, you can read Source Forge's instructions on how to install a CVS program.  Then you instruct the CVS program to do an anonymous check out. (This is explained by SF.)
