Title: Coppermine Mobile Lite Plugin
Post by: foulu on November 18, 2011, 10:27:24 am
Hi,

This is my latest plugin for Coppermine, it is a plugin that help Android & Apple device view your gallery more easily. The plugin will auto detect the user device and put your Coppermine to mobile mode. Currently, the plugin only offer three page under the mobile mode:

1. Index page with a list of categories & albums.
2. Album page.
3. Picture page.

It also have the lightbox mod when you click to the image.

You can download the plugin by this link:

http://adf.ly/3m4bQ (http://adf.ly/3m4bQ)

I'm not create a demo site for this plugin yet but I will make one soon.

Hello foulu,

glad to see you here again :)

I haven't tested your plugin yet, but I'm glad you contributed it, as we had some support and feature request that ask for such a functionality. I also created a plugin that tries to solve that issue, by auto detecting the user device and changing the default theme to a mobile friendly theme. But because of the lack of such themes and I never implemented all features I intended to include, it was never released publicly, but only available in the official SVN repository (http://coppermine.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/coppermine/branches/cpg1.5.x/plugins/theme_switch/).

I wonder if I'm allowed to attach your plugin to your initial post and/or upload it to our download section, as we had bad experiences in the past with external websites that goes down eventually.

Regards
André

Here is the pic of the three pages:

http://amfcvn.net/demo/mobile_lite/2.jpg (http://amfcvn.net/demo/mobile_lite/2.jpg)
http://amfcvn.net/demo/mobile_lite/3.jpg (http://amfcvn.net/demo/mobile_lite/3.jpg)

You can view the demo at:

http://amfcvn.net/demo/mobile_lite (use your mobile browser, of course).

I also publish a new update of the plugin to fix the user galleries list at page one.

@Αndré: Thank you but I'd like to keep the file on my own website. I'm not intent to make it something serious but a small experiment.
@all: If you found bugs or have some ideal on how to improve this plugin, please post here.

I gave it a try. It looks good, but my gallery has over 2500 albums in it. The whole list tried to load when you click on user galleries. If there was away to limit the list to say 40 or 50 per page, I'd try it again.

@Foulo This is amazing!  I've been waiting forever for a good Mobile theme for Coppermine, and many of my users have been asking for one, so I'm very happy that you're developing this.  :) I can only encourage you to keep up the work on the Mobile Lite plug-in, since having mobile capability is almost a necessity now.

Tested on my iPhone.

Some problems (at least for me):
1.  Maybe you should have Mobile Lite override Config settings to 'turn off' the ratings / filenames beneath each thumbnail, because they word wrap around and it looks ugly.  As the Admin, I can disallow the ratings / filenames / comments in Config, but it turns it off even for computers.

2.  My thumbnails don't display properly  :( (not as nice as your Screenshot #2).  See attached.

3.  When you click on a picture, it loads a lightbox effect, right?  Maybe show the loading circle, since sometimes it takes a long time to load ... so long, that maybe the user doesn't know the picture is loading!

Some suggestions:
 1.  If there are no sub-categories, then maybe drop the text of "0 categories" when it says "0 categories - # albums" on the Homepage.  Save some space.

2.  Thumbnails would be excellent to show next to categories or albums :)

3.  "Start Slideshow"

Once again, thanks for all the work on the Mobile Lite plug-in.  I can't wait to see the next release  ;D

I have just tested this on my Ipod and it would appear that the mod ignores any user rights, for instance I have a "Work area" which cannot be viewed by guests, yet on the mobile version I can see it, any ideas?

Hi,

My users are asking if there's some way that they can revert back to the default theme when accessing the galleries using the Mobile Lite Plugin (without me, the admin, completely uninstalling your great plug-in)

.....if there's some way that they can revert back to the default theme....

For all conditions to return to the default theme, tell the users to use the address ...
     ....yoursite . com/index.php?theme=xxx

The 'xxx' will revert the cpg output to the default theme.

Joe, have you tested your suggestion? AFAIK the plugin doesn't use the default theme engine, but overwrites everything with its own output. I don't know, but I assume your suggestion won't work in this case. Correct me, if I'm wrong, as I haven't tested it.

Andre is correct.  The Mobile Lite Plugin is not a theme in the traditional Coppermine sense (where you can just change the theme from "curve" to "rain drop" ).  The Coppermine gallery detects the mobile device and replaces everything with a different output.

So I assume the only way would be to adjust the browser's user agent without modifying the plugin.

This is a much needed coppermine feature! I absolutely love the plugin, although it would useful to have a "configure" link for easy configuration for newbies like myself.
I'd like to reverse the album order (with the newest albums on top)

Does this theme support uploads?

Thanks,

I've tried the demo with my android mobile (800x480 screen) but it doesn't seem to display the images correctly. Can somebody confirm if it works as expected on your mobile, please?

Just a heads up, when I added this plugin, the name was too long.  "Mobile Theme LITE for Coppermine Gallery using Sencha (iPhone/iPod/iPad/Android)" was too long to insert. I had to modify the configuration.php to reduce the name down to "Mobile Theme LITE".
Title: Revert to non-mobile theme
Post by: scohen125 on July 13, 2012, 03:00:37 am
I too would like to be able to revert to the non-mobile theme.  I installed the mobile theme and love the look.  I have a collaborator who would like to integrate my gallery into an app.  The mobile theme doesn't have the search function, nor does it allow rating of images.  Is there a way to add a button or choice to the mobile theme homepage that would allow the user to view my website as it would look without the mobile theme installed?

My website is: www.RetinaGallery.com

Thanks,
Steven

Don't use this plug-in.  Use http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,74827.0.html (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,74827.0.html)
