Title: Doublets
Post by: Dieter Zoubek on October 08, 2011, 05:52:13 pm
We have imported some 10 000 pics in our coppermine installation. Due to unclaired reasons we have imported about 300 pics twice.

The filenames of the doublets are identified using SQL methods.

What is the best idea to delete the entries of the doublets in the coppermine installation ? Just delete the entries in the pictures table?

I assume those dupes points to the same physical files, right? If so, you have to delete them directly in the pictures table. If you'd use the built-in Coppermine methods you'd delete the file on the file system and one entry in the database, resulting in one data set with a missing file.

No. The are in different directories. What do you suggest in this case?

Either delete them manually one-by-one with the built-in delete function or create a script that detects your dupes reliably and then delete all files (original/backup, full-sized, normal, thumb - depends on your settings and files) and remove the data sets. Of course you can also just delete the data sets, but then you'll have some dead files on your server that consume disk space.
