Again, a newbie question. I had someone upload an image, but she cannot see it, and i cannot see it (as admin) either. Probably another setting to set, but my problem now, is that the gallery is displaying in French instead of English so i am a bit lost with the controls.

I already told you to read the docs (http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/). Please also read and follow our board rules (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,55415.0.html) (which require to read the docs before asking for support).

If nobody can see it, it probably wasn't uploaded. If you need upload support, read the upload troubleshooting docs (http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/upload_troubleshooting.htm) and post the required information.
