i want to know if there is a plugin for online upgrade for coppermine?

The update/upgrade procedure is described in the docs (http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/upgrading.htm). Afaik there's no plugin that changes the things you have to do.

I don't see how a 3rd party site could reliably update software on another server, unless its built-in/initially part of the software to be able to do so.

If you're familiar with svn (and your server has an svn client application) feel free to use the svn switch command to update the Coppermine files. This is not what you asked for, but saves you some time during the upgrade if your server meets the requirements.
