Title: Moving pics among albums
Post by: bertvanv on November 25, 2010, 10:48:18 am
I run a collector's site called The ice Skates museum (www.iceskatesmuseum.com). At the moment I am bussy in creating a platform where fellow collectors can upload pictures of ice skates they want to discuss about with other collectors.
My intention is to create some categories around certain themes and within each category albums around certain aspects. As to control things a bit I would like to receive all uploads in a main map (upload album) and then to distribute them among the aspect albums myself.
In a test situation I tried to move pics from one album to another by copying/pasting but it did not work.
I searched the documentation for support but could not find what I was looking for.
Thank you for your help.

By the way, this also concerns my other (still unsolved) question about removing categories. They were made during testing and should be deleted to give things a proper look.

The wanted gallery may be visited at schaatsenmuseum.nl/coppermine.

Any comment will be most welcome.

A couple of ways to do this, I guess.

Go to each images properties and change the album in the dropdown box, to move them.  Make sure you save the changes.

Or give each of your albums a keyword., then in the upload album you can assign a keyword to each image (via that images, "Edit file information" button), matching the image keyword to the album you want it to reside in.

You have to understand, that Coppermine uses a database to store several information. That's what I already tried to explain you in your other thread (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,68282.0.html).

I decided to use the second method that was mentioned.
Each album (5 in total) within the same category was given a keyword.
The upload album was mentioned 'upload'.
For some pics in this album I added the keyword of a second album, e.g. 'upload; bridge'. I confirmed this.
I then expected these pics would show uo in the Bridge album as well.
But nothing happened.
So, what is wrong?

You need to assign the same keyword to the (target) album and the (source) pictures. So assigning the keyword to the upload album doesn't work. More information:

The problem has been solved. In fact, it appeared that there have not been a problem with Coppermine itself. You and me have been spoiling our time due to handshake problems between Internet Explorer and Coppermine. This became clear when my hosting company logged in on my pc using Teamviewer. It then appeared that everything went well on his pc but not on mine. (André had the same experience!) Eventually we found that he used Firefox (Maybe André does as well). When I changed from IE to FF the problems had gone.
Thank you, everybody that gave time to this issue. I learned something from this case that has cost me some 70 hours. Maybe you did as well, in the end.
