Title: Fovorites folder empty for guests
Post by: hlabout on September 25, 2010, 10:06:05 am
Looking for some support on a problem with my favorites folder.

Running cgp 1.4.27 on my gallery www.haraldlabout.nl

Two weeks ago I activated the favorites display on my gallery for guest visitors.
I use the Display Fields v1.3 plugin (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,27407.html) to display "Add to favorites" only in the admin mode.
So after selecting some pictures as my favorites (36x) they show up nicely in my Favorites folder on my Gallery in admin and guest mode.

However after a while this folder shows up empty for guest users on my gallery.
If this occurs I login as admin and then the favorites folder is showing all favorites marked pictures.
Logout and again the favorites folder is empty for guests again.

To get the favorites pictures to show up again for guests I have to log in as admin again, deselect one of the favorite pictures, select it again and THEN after the logout all favorites pictures show up again for guest users.

Very strange behavior and I have been searching for a solution in the forums without any result.
Hope to find a solution by starting this Topic.

I don't understand what you are doing here. Each guest has their own individual favourites.

Nibbler,

I use the coppermine gallery to display my own foto gallery.
No other members on my gallery.

I want to show my own personal favorites under the favourites tab so that all guests (visitors on my site) can  watch my personal favourites.
I use the Display fields plugin to only show "add to favorites" in admin mode.
In this configuration all favorite pictures show up under the favorites tab after i logout and do not close the browser.
In that situation (not logged in as admin) it seems that a guest can show my favorites.
After closing the browser and start the browser again, the favorites folder is empty.

Reading your reaction I suspect this is normal and a guest cannot see the admin favorites and this is an normal situation.

enable the "user can vote for own files"-option and use the meta-album "top voted" instead.

Solved problem.
Selected favorites as "guest" and not as admin.
After selection removed "ad to favorites" field by using Display fields plugin.

Thanks for the feedback.

Again, only you will see those favourites. Nobody else.

Nibbler,

You are completely right, favorites folder still empty for "other" guests.

Solved issue by following trick:

- created new "empty" album "My favorites" which is only visible in admin mode.
- linked album to keyword "favorites"
- added the keyword "favorites" to all my personal favorite photo's
- linked the '{FAV_TGT}' in themes include.php (theme.php) to the new created "my favorites" album

Now all guests can see my personal favorite photo's by clicking om the "My Favorites" link on the home page of my gallerie: www.haraldlabout.nl
The new created "My favorites" album does not show up for guests, only shows up as empty when logged in as administrator.
Great solution for my needs.
