Hi,

I didn't find anything similar to my needs in the forum.

My pages will have a title, photo(s), and maybe links.

They will also be tagged with fixed, known keywords, for example
tagcategory=Country, tag=Japan
tagcategory=Year,     tag=1999
tagcategory=Type,     tag=2T
etc.

I'd like users to create pages, upload photos, add their tags to their pages using drop-down lists; exactly one tag for every single tagcategory.
Several pages could have exactly the same set of tags, but they'd have different titles.

and I want to able to search pages using tag filters (drop down lists by tagcategory, or tag checkboxes by tagcategory) like:
Country               Year               Type         Search
  Japan                  >1999<           2T 
  >France<              2000              4T

Or

Country               
  [ ] Japan       [X] France   
Year                 
  [X]1999        [ ] 2000
Type
  [ ]2T            [ ]4T
Search

The search result would ideally bring back the 1st image and page title for the top n matching pages.

(How) could I do (some of) this with Coppermine? Could I use the category/album classification/metaphor to do this?

I don't have a gallery yet, I am looking for the right tool to build it.  :P Could each page be an album? And the tags be multiple categories? Thanks.

Hi guys,

So do you think coppermine do what I need: tag photos (or pages) and search by tag?
Tags must have a 2-level hierarchy, otherwise, i'll have thousands of tags for searching, in one huge list, with years in the same list as countries, it will be a mess. Can categories do that? Or keywords?

Ideally, i'd also have a way to check that my photos (or pages) have the right tags: one each for country, year, type, etc.

Ideally also, the search will bring back thumbnails links rather than text links.

I'd have thought this would be a common requirement, but I have a hard time finding a suitable piece of software.

Afaik keyword categories aren't supported in Coppermine. You'll have to code that feature yourself or pay someone to do it for you.
