Title: Icelandic language translation
Post by: jonket on August 16, 2010, 01:01:26 pm
Here is my translation of CPG 1.5.8 English to CPG 1.5.8 Icelandic.

As far as I can see this is a full translation.

I proofread it, but might have overlooked something.

Some Icelanders might not agree with my translation or want to improve it, and they are welcome to point that out to me with no offense.

I am glad to contibute to this wonderful project.

Best regards,  Jon

@jonket: thanks for your contribution.

@Αndré: language file is incomplete - there is still some English in it that shows through, e.g. in $lang_bad_words or
Code: [Select]
$lang_picinfo['MaxApertureValue'] = 'Max Aperture';ff or
Code: [Select]
$lang_reviewcom_php['akismet_a'] = 'Akismet rating (valid comments at the bottom)'; // cpg1.5ff or
Code: [Select]
$lang_install['tmp_conf_error'] = 'Unable to write the temporary config file - make sure the \'include\' folder is writable for the script.';ff or
Code: [Select]
$lang_sidebar_php['install_explain'] = 'Among the many smart access methods to get to information quickly on the site, we provide sidebars for the most popular browsers used on different operating systems to access pages easily. Here you can find setup and uninstall information for the browsers supported.'; // cpg1.5ff. Needed changes as far as the queries are concerned went into 7853.
Additionally, I have upgraded the translator section on the about page (http://coppermine-gallery.net/team/#translators).

Here is an improved version.

As pointed out I missed some lines in translation and they have been translated and more that I overlooked.

I also fixed some typo errors and grammar.

Regarding bad words in Icelandic,  I don't know any  :).  Well,  I added some but this is complicated because of grammar and language. Same words mean different things depending on usage.

Like "fu**" = ríða, but it also means ride a horse.

I know I can not trust everybody to use good language but live in the hope.

Regarding EXIF information I skipped that intentionally (the technical words).  Most like the English language in that.  For that matter they are still discussing how to translate some of them into Icelandic.

I will continue to improve the translation as I see errors and send it in periodically.  There is a little perfectionist in me.  But I did not expect it to be perfect in the first round.

Best regards, Jon

P.S  Maybe you could change the heading of the original post to "Icelandic language translation" for me?

Thanks again for your contribution. I have changed the subject of the initial posting as you suggested and have committed your changes (went into rev 7861).
