Title: Manual Sort order
Post by: wdric on June 19, 2010, 05:22:12 am
I can see that an admin can sort by position (manually)
I can't find it in the docs, but can a registered user manually change the sort order of there files?

Or is the only way to give them admin rights?

Coppermine Photo Gallery v1.5.6: Documentation and Manual - Admin menu items - Sort my pictures (http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/admin_menu.htm#sort_my_pictures)

Quote from: Documentation
Picture manager that can be used to custom-sort files within an album. By default, the thumbnail page that displays the contents of an album will be sorted by the sorting order specified in "Default sort order for files (http://documentation.coppermine-gallery.net/en/configuration.htm#admin_thumbnail_default_sortorder)" on the config page. The "sort my pictures" option overrides the default sorting mechanism and displays the thumbnails in the order you specify. As this means an additional effort in the maintenance of each album, it is recommended to use the default sorting by filename (instead of specifying a custom sort order) and naming the files appropriately before upload.

Note: each user (including the admin) can use the sorting controls on the album's thumbnails display page to manually override the sorting option that was specified in coppermine's config and the "Sort my pictures" option; this final method of changing the sort order is stored locally in a cookie of the client and reverts to the config settings when this cookie is discarded.

Does this answer your question, or were you making reference to something else?

I did read that

But only the admin can manually sort the pictures

The registered users from what I can see can only use the controls to sort by: position, name, date etc.
The registered user only has the ability to see the pictures in the way the admin has manually sorted them

I would like the registered user to have the ability to manually control the sort order of their own album pictures

No link sorry, still setting up the gallery and learning about it.

But it is easy to duplicate my issue.
Rather than login as an admin
Login as a registered user, you will find out you can not sort the pictures by position, the "files" menu and "sort my pictures" sub menu are not available to any users other than admin

Can I make these menus available to registered users?

Cannot replicate - works just fine on my cpg1.5 test gallery.

No one really cares if your gallery is set up, finished, pretty or ugly. Without a link to your Coppermine you are on your own. No one wants to guess what the problem might be if you do not want to take the time to post the link (I suggest setting up a temporary user/registered account too).

OK
So when you login as a registered user you have the "files" menu available with the "sort my pictures" sub menu available!

Obviously something with my install well

Thanks, I will check it out

Doesn't matter - post the link!
