I am sort of new to the php/MySQL world and this has been the best and most helpfull website and application I have seen to date! Although the forums are somewhat mismanaged, they are also pretty good. Thanks again, and I look forward to sometime contributing to this project.

I'm completely new to this too.  Do you have any advice as to where I can look on the site to get myself started.  Is coppermine free?

Yes, coppermine is free. Start reading the documentation (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/manual.php).
