Title: Admin mode isn't working

When I go to Admin mode the menu doesn't show at the top... why would that be?  Can I fix it?

Can you give more details.  Are you still logged in?  What version are you using?
A link with test user logon details would help.

Same problem I'm experiencing. Just new to CPG.
I installed it yesterday and was able to create two categories. No pics uploaded yet, though.
Today, I tried going into Admin mode, to no avail.

Version is 1.2.1

Well, it's the standard bare screen when you've just installed CPG.

I'm using the "hardwire theme".

Everytime I press "Admin Mode", a dialog box appears stating "Entering Admin Mode". After that, nothing has changed, still in user mode.

if you want help, you should do as you are told, as there's a reason for Hyperion asking for a screenshot. You can attach the screenshot to your posting, no big fuzz.
A link and a test account (non-admin) might help as well.

You can test this at http://www.cafra.us/gallery - with account name 'test' and password 'account'.

Thanks for any help.  We just started using Coppermine so if need be we can easily delete the installation and start over.

If that is a user account, I am able to login correctly. I would suggest you check your browser's cookie settings.
