I'm now onto my third attempt to bridge Mambo and Coppermine.
My first attempt was a disaster, end up trashing the groups table.
On my second attempt, I bridged Mambo <-> SMF <-> Coppermine
This worked well and is now in production.
On this (the third) attempt, I do not need a forum, just a CMS and photo gallery.
So I'm back at it to get the Mambo <-> Coppermine bridge working.
When I configured and enabled the bridge, pressing the Coppermine login button just brings up the Mambo site. Coppermine works just fine with the bridge turned off.
Coppermine install: http://aylard.ca/drr/gallery/
Mambo install: http://aylard.ca/drr
Coppermine version: cpg1.4.21
Mambo version: 4.6.5
Test user account: test / testdrr
BridgeManager settings:
Forum URL: http://aylard.ca/drr (Mambo)
Relative path to your BBS's config file: ../
Use post-based groups?: 0
Cookie name/preifx (if applicable)

I strongly doubt that the Mambo bridge that comes with cpg1.4.x was designed with Mambo 4.6.5 in mind - there has been no update on the mambo bridge for ages. This being said - now that you appear to be starting from scratch with that mambo driven site - I suggest looking into Joomla instead.
Maybe someone else who is more experienced in Mambo can help you in detail...

The 4.6 release of Mambo is very different to the earlier releases and the whole security/logon system has changed considerably. I believe there is a bridge being planned by a third party but you could be waiting forever for that.
I too would suggest switching to Joomla where there are now a couple of bridging options available. Migrating from Mambo to Joomla is quite easy and you will find lots of info via google on how to do it.

Thanks for the information.
I guess I'll look into Joomla or Drupal
You guys saved me a great deal of frustration and lost time thanks.
