Title: [Done]: Add a strongest warning to debug.
Post by: Fabricio Ferrero on September 24, 2008, 05:34:36 pm
After reading this in a reply from Joaquim:

Nobody asked for debug_output.

I think it must be modified the "copy_and_paste_instructions" adding a stronger warning there.

Now you get this:

<<If you're going to request help on the coppermine support board, copy-and-paste this debug output into your posting when requested, along with the error message you get (if any). Make sure to replace any passwords from the query with *** before posting. <br />Note: This is for information only and does not mean there is an error with your gallery.>>

Several times a week we see users that appear doesn't know what when requested means.

Wouldn't be a valid suggestion to add something like:

If you post debug output when not requested you will be banned form the forum for one week

Or something like that. Try to rephrase a better warning.

I think this will save some time to the supporter.

Regards,

The text has already been changed for cpg1.5.x - it currently reads for cpg1.5.x:

If you're going to request help on the Coppermine support board, copy-and-paste this debug output into your posting when requested, along with the error message you get (if any). Only post the debug_output on the support board if a supporter definitely asks for it! Make sure to replace any passwords from the query with *** before posting.
Note: This is for information only and does not mean there is an error with your gallery.
Above mentioned text only displays for the admin. The regular user doesn't get any informational text at all for debug_output.
Additionally, the debug_output is being collapsed - you have to expand it. I have attached some screenshots for illustration.
Marking thread as "done".
