Title: Installing coppermine and wordpress on a sub-domain?
Post by: cdawg on August 30, 2008, 04:01:32 pm
vail.soapteens.com (http://vail.soapteens.com)

I installed WP to the subdomain, the installed coppermine.  The set up of Coppermine worked, but when I put in the gallery address, I get a WP not found page?

Can I not have both installed on a sub-domain?  Should I have installed coppermine first?

They can reside in the same sub-domain, but within different folders.

Ok---so right now I've got WP on the root domain and coppermine in another folder--move both to their own folder?

Well, this goes for any two pre-made apps like coppermine, wordpress, your favorite bbs or whatever: all those apps contain identcially named files, e.g. index.php. But within a particular folder, only one such file can exist. Therefore, you can't have two different apps installed into one folder, as they would interfere. What app you put into the root and what app you move into a sub-folder (or a sub-domain, which is just a representation of a sub-folder using another notation in your browser's address bar) doesn't matter.
Bottom line: both apps need to be installed within a folder of their own. This can be the root folder and a sub-folder or two sub-folders. Just make sure you don't have identical filenames that would collide.
