Title: [Solved]: Coppermine critical error
Post by: tamiafans.net on April 09, 2008, 05:27:11 am
Whenever I go to my gallery website it says:

Quote
Coppermine critical error:
Unable to connect to database !

MySQL said: Access denied for user 'tamia_cpm2'@'localhost' to database 'tamia_cpm2'

then I email my host and he says

Quote
About your Tamia gallery, it reffers to unexisting database (tamia_cpm2).

How can I fix this so that the gallery will start working again.  Thank You.

If the database doesn't exist any longer, re-create it from a backup. If you have renamed the database, reflect your changes by editing include/config.inc.php accordingly.

sorry to ask but how do I do that?  I don't think I made a backup.

Well, if the database is actually gone and you haven't made a backup, you're lost. It's up to you to make regular backups - what other answer would you have expected? Ask your webhost if they have made a backup for you (usually, they don't).

I see, but the problem is I'm going to my SQL database thing and it's saying that the database is still there.  Is there anything I can do?  ???

Well, if the database is still there, make sure that all tables within it are still there as well and populated as expecxted. Make sure that the naming hasn't changed. If you can't figure this out, ask your webhost for support, because we can't.

Thank you.  My webhost sucks...  Now if I could figure out how to login into my other forum...if you could help me with that that would be great.

You already have another open thread on that issue (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,51722.0.html) - don't cross-post!

My webhost sucks...
I don't think that your webhost sucks just because they can not hold your hand with this - that's simply beyond what you can expect. If you have no idea about databases, you should not use them. Don't expect to be spoon-fed. Anyway, marking thread as "solved" (although I can't replicate how you actually solved your issues, nor what page you have been refering to). Webhost-bashing is a bit lame if you ask me.
