Title: Categorize PICTURES not ALBUMS

I have 5000 pictures that have been archived in folders named for the Month and Year.  But within each folder may be 10 different categories.  For example December 2007 may contain "Christmas" pictures but also contains "Vacation" or "Family" or "Funeral" etc that have nothing to do with Christmas.  Thus I would like to be able to associate a category to each individual picture rather than having to move the pictures into albums that can have a category associated to it.  If this feature already exists, I have not been able to figure it out.

That's what keywords are meant to be used for. Not sure what you're actually requesting though.
