Title: New User Can't upload pics to my site

It all is so complicated!  I've been trying to upload pics to my site for the last few hours. 
I read this "FIRST AND FOREMOST: CHECK YOUR PERMISSIONS ON THE /ALBUMS, /ALBUMS/USERPICS, AND /ALBUMS/EDIT DIRECTORIES.  ALL SHOULD BE 777 OR 755." I don't know how to find "/ALBUMS, /ALBUMS/USERPICS, AND /ALBUMS/EDIT DIRECTORIES" but somewhere I did see the parameters are 777.

Can someone help me please?  I am so pressed for time and just want a simple gallery to display my pics.

This is the error message I'm getting in reference to my last post.


The file 'albums/userpics/DSCN4679copy480~3.jpg' can't be inserted in the album

Unable to create thumbnail or reduced size image.
