Title: adding text on index

I have placed some welcome text on my gallery and did that on the template.html of my theme.
But the text is showing now on every page, which I do not want.
Did I place it in the wrong file? Or must I use a string so it only shows on the index?

Use anycontent.php - this is what it is designed for.
