Title: Flag "done" folders as "do not show" in searchnew.php
Post by: thejake420 on June 26, 2007, 10:36:33 am
This will really only have an impact on those with many uploaded picture folders (ie - I have 100+ folders, each averaging 500-1000 files, and that's BEFORE thumb_ and normal_ get added.), but it would be a major timesaver, not to mention dramatically lowering server load and reducing necessary drive usage, resulting in faster page views during batch-add maintenance.

Currently, searchnew.php displays a list of all the folders from which an admin can begin a batch-add process, apparently in the display_dir_tree function. However, due to the number of folders in some galleries, this process can tie up the server (drive access time isn't always very fast, especially on cheaper hosts), and generally just up the server load unnecessarily.

So basically, my request is for a feature (optional via Config) to mark folders as "done" when the admin knows that it won't be used for a batch add process again. (ie - all 1000 pictures in that folder are already added, so there's no need to keep displaying the folder)

(Since it is optional via Config, if the admin ever did need to use that folder in a batch add process again, he could simply turn the feature off temporarily, though that wouldn't normally be necessary due to the nature of this proposed feature. Anybody with a gallery this big likely already has their own organizational system for their batch upload folders, and wouldn't likely reuse an old folder for fear of "misplacing" new pictures.)
