Title: Error: Impossible to move....
Post by: Citroen on May 27, 2007, 01:13:25 pm
After trying my very best (belive me, but the main trouble might be that I have trouble understanding english very good), reading FAQ, documentation and forums, and doing all the things I see I still can't upload photos. I admit that I have "gone lost" trying to sort it out. I also must inform that I have made and deleted categories, albums etc in order to find a way around. But no..... :(

I'll have to use the latest error since only one question is allowed, here is the message coming up:
Code: [Select]
Impossible to move 4wdbreak.jpg to albums/userpics/10001/ !

File: /mounted-storage/home54a/sub008/sc35731-DOPG/lhm-kaffe.com/citroengalleriet/db_input.php - Line: 355

PS: I have set permissions, and as you probably see also set the configuration as told in order to get the message above.

Would you please be so kind to guide me in the right direction?

The error message means that the script can not write the thumbnails and intermediate files. You'll have to set permissions as suggested in the permissions section of the docs (http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#permissions) on the albums folder and everything within it.

Joachim

P.S. The test user account you posted doesn't have upload privileges, so it isn't helpful

Thank you for answering.

I understand that I overlooked some permission-settings. Don't know how I managed to do so, but I did! :-[
I admit I'm having a hard time trying to understand both a "second" language and sorting out what to to with the stuff I partly understand. But, that is of course my personal problem. I't's great to have a supportforum and super-competent guiders in moment like this.

Hopefully I (this time) have set the permissions correct. However I am still recieving the same message trying to uploade. I might need to delete/do a new instalation - or run install again? Meaning, since the permissieon during install was incorrect?

Don't re-install, that's pointless. Did you actually read the permission section thoroughly? You have to make sure that you have applied permissions that suit your server's setup. Re-read it extra carefully and apply the needed permissions.

Ok, I'll do that. Of course I might have missed something even if I'm not supposed to.

I will read carefully and then come back to you again . Either happy because the problem is solved - or begging for further advice.  ;) Thank you so far.

Sorry I did'nt come back here earlier, I simply forgot to give feedback because the problem was solved like this:

My Coppermine installation was done via "automatic setup" provided by my webhost. When trying to fix the problem related to this posting a lot other things turned up as well.........so many that I decided to delete the hole installation and do a "normal" installation instead. Partly because of many peoblems - partly because I see the advance of having the files om my computer when editing style etc.

So.....a new installation was made and are up and running with exelent help from this board with "minor" problems.

Again: Sorry for this late feedback. "Solved" ;)

Thanks for returning and posting your solution. However, as recommendation for others with similar issues: re-installing is not an option. Instead, just overwrite the files on your server that have been created by the auto-installer with the ones from our package (as if you were performing an upgrade, see the corresponding section of the docs). It should have the same effect and cause less work. Additionally, you won't lose your uploads and other stuff you did to customize your initial install.
