Please read the docs about creating directories within the album directory. This is a rights problem on your server.

I have exactly the same problem. I cannot delete an album, I get the same answer. Before, I tried to set the CHMOD on the server, but they already had the permissions OK. Topic 4.3.4 about deleting albums in the docs do not have a word about this problem. Then, I came to this forum, read this thread and looked again through the docs, but I could find nothing. Can anyone tell me exactly what I should look for in the docs, please, because I have no idea? Or else tell me what to do.

Difficult to tell, do you have a link available?
If so, you can pm a userid/password and I can check.
If not, suggest you install again.

Issue solved.
Problem was that this person had his album filled with images. After removing the images, the album could be deleted.
Should have mentioned the solution

Not a very helpfull thread for others. In fact, both the thread starter as well as the thread hijacker failed to respect board rules. Board rules exist for the mutual benefit both of supporters as well as users. Failing to respect board rules is selfish.
Anyway, as this thread is totally useless I'm locking it to make sure that it doesn't get cluttered even more.

If you came across this thread looking for answers on what seems to be a similar issue to the one described in this thread, do as suggested in the board rules.
