Title: Immediate Help -- Please
Post by: ::Andrew:: on December 26, 2006, 04:58:09 am
I have just recently moved my websites gallery, and I now have made all of my appropriate changes to my config.inc.php and now I need to just get the databaseserver. But I have yet to know what that is, could anyone please define this? Thanks so much.

I don't understand the question. What do you mean by
now I need to just get the databaseserver

Is your question "how do I move the content of the database from one server to the other"?

Take a look at http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/faq.htm#moveGallery

Hey, I am changing the information via config.inc.php and I had to then enter what a databaseserver is. The problem is, that I do not know what that is. You can view my gallery at http://stacey-f.org/photo to see what I mean.

Please ask your web host to provide you with information regarding which database, host, username and password to use to connect to MySQL on your server - fill in that in config.inc.php and you should be set!

Oy. My web host gave me the information, she hasn't been online for a while. But, I now tried for the databaseserver 'local host' as that was it for my old gallery. I seem to now also get a new error message saying MySQL said: Access denied for user 'degrassi_staceyf'@'localhost' to database 'degrassi_staceyf'. You can view it at the URL of http://stacey-f.org/photo.

- check the user name and password
- check the user's privileges

Are you with a professional webhost or is this just a friend who is self-hosting and offering you some webspace? There's little we could do to help you with this, as you can't make up the mysql data. Coppermine requires mysql to be setup properly in the first place before setting coppermine up to use it.

I am with a friend. I do have the correct username and etc. I just do not know why exactly it is denying me access to my gallery? Is there something that needs to be 755 or 777? Could it be my database, and it needs to be chmoded?

Databases don't get CHMODed, therefor your question is just invalid. Ask your friend for support, if he's trying to operate his own server, he should know. If he doesn't know his way around, go for professional webhosting.

I now receive a new message telling me there is a fatal error? What does that mean?

You're running cpg1.4.2 - upgrade.
