Title: Pictures change size
Post by: cavetech on November 26, 2006, 05:21:09 pm
I am new to coppermine.  Excuse what is probably a basic question.

I can upload a photo to coppermine and copy its URL into a post.

Problem is that the photo is smaller when it is inserted in the post than what is was before saving it to coppermine.

Wht setting in the coppermine admin panel should I change so photos are not resixed?

Thanks, Steve.

Read Documentation (http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#admin_picture_thumbnail) it's helpful ;)

I tried that first.

If I understood how to fix it I never would have bothered you.

It talks about PHP.  I don't even know where to find it.

Thanks, Steve

I am sorry to bother you guys with this.  By way of explaination I am in the networking field.  I am not a webmaster nor have I ever seen coppermine before.  I don't know PHP or HTML.

One of my favorite forums was closed.  I bought it to save it and a lot of good folks are very happy I did.  I stay in the background, only stepping in when needed.  So I am learning vBulletin, cPanel and now coppermine as well as hold down a fulltime network job.

I've been in every part of my coppermine admin control panel.  There isn't much there.

Now I have users that want to use the pictures hosting site that came with the forums.  Those that have been using it are e-mailing me about their photos being too small when the paste the URL in a post back to their pics in coppermine.

Under documentation I found this:
Auto resize images that are larger than max width or height
During the upload process, if images are larger than the maximum width or height allowed they will automatically be resized to the maximum allowable size. Users with especially large files should be advised to resize their pictures outside of coppermine before uploading as this process also consumes considerable resources when processed online.

Note: How the image is resized (width/height/max aspect) is set in the admin option "Use dimension (width or height or Max aspect for thumbnail)"

There are three options:

No - Disabled
Yes: Everyone - Enabled for all users, including the Admin during batch-add process.
Yes: User only - Enabled only for regular users

My admin control panel does not have these options.

Can you point me to this control?

What can I show you that will make this easy?

Thanks, Steve

If it doesn't have that option then you are probably running an outdated version of Coppermine. As I already said we need links to your gallery and to the place where the pictures are 'too small'.

This is the URL for the picture hosting portion of the forums:

http://pics.ramanon.com/

I've just been back in admin and config.  Just can't find the control.

Thanks, Steve

Coppermine 1.3.4 does not have that option and is in fact no longer supported. Download the latest stable version (1.4.10) and update.

Post a link to where you are using the images.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

I found : 3.4 Upgrading from cpg1.2.x or cpg1.3.x to version cpg1.4.10  with instructions.

I'll need time to figure out where the files are.

I said I was out of my field.  I suspect I might find this in the host server cPanel:

First, make a backup (dump) of your database.
Backup your include/config.inc.php file, your anycontent.php file and your "albums" directory.
Unpack the archive
If the file install.php exists in the root directory, delete it.

I'll go look.
