Hi,
This may be such a silly question (and I have searched the forum), but what version of the Gallery am I running?
You can find my gallery through my website (http://www.thekhans.me.uk/) or directly here (http://www.thekhans.me.uk/origami/thegallery/index.php).
I downloaded the 1.2.1 zip file today, but couldn't find via the admin section what version I am currently running.
Also, if an ugrade is needed, will my current theme still work with it? (Hardwire).
Thanks for the great software guys!

The "hidden" copyright link (tsk tsk) points to by chezgreg's old site. I'm guessing it's 1.1 or below.
-
Hi,
Thanks for that. I'm not sure why the Coppemine link doesn't display (it never has). I'm all up for displaying copyright links/info (check out my forum and other php script I use).
I'll install the update and see what happens - will the theme still work?
Thanks,
saj
-
Just out of curiosity, what happens if I am running version 1.0 (or below) and apply the upgrade procedure for version 1.1 to 1.2?
I'm finding it hard to make a backup of my album - there are 600+ pics amounting to a grand file size of 6MB! (I'm on broadband and it takes ages to download!).
Just a suggestion - maybe future versions can somehow store in the db the software version number?
saj
-
All versions from cpg1.1.0 on display the version info in the config screen.
Upgrading from cpg1.0 to cpg1.2.1 is possible as well - see http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/demo/docs/index.htm#upgrade
If you're on broadband, backing up shouldn't be a problem and is strongly recommended.

Hi,
When installing in another directory, what do I need to say specify in install.php for the table prefix?
I have insalled 2 galleries on my site - one uses the default prefix and the one I hope to update is using cpg_ori_ prefix.
What do I specify when I install the new version? If I put cpg_ori_ will it overwrite my existing data?
help!
saj
-
If you are updating you shouldnt use install.php, you should be using update.php.
If you are upgrading from 1.0 with the new install, then use a different prefix.
-
Do'h
Just spent the last half our backing up and following the directions - I thought where it says ;install how you would normally' meant I would need to install it again!
Well that would explain why the install never worked ...
Thanks,
saj
-
Just to be clear, I need to upload the the new gallery directory and run the upgrade script (by passing the regular install script).
saj
-
When attempting to run the upgrade script I get the following error;
Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/thekhans.me.uk/httpdocs/origami/gallery/include/init.inc.php on line 135
Fatal error: Failed opening required 'include/config.inc.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/psa/apache/lib/php') in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/thekhans.me.uk/httpdocs/origami/gallery/include/init.inc.php on line 135
Just to clarify, I have uploaded the files for the stable version of the gallery (1.2.0). I copied the album directory from my previous gallery into the new gallery location.
I have NOT used install.php but am directly calling upgrade-1.0-to-1.2.php
And that's where I am getting the errors!
(I think my present gallery version is 1.0).
saj
-
Just to clarify, I have uploaded the files for the stable version of the gallery (1.2.0).
The most recent stable version is cpg1.2.1 - you shouldn't use cpg1.2.0
Please read the instructions from the documentation (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/demo/docs/index.htm#10) carefully: you'll have to run upgrade-1.0-to-1.2.php after entering admin mode...
If you have open-basedir restrictions in effect, try using silly_safe_mode.

HI gaugau,
I tried installing / upgrading three times yesterday - I think I've given up now!
I will be attempting again, but can you please run through the instructions again? I am finding them somewhat confusing.
Ok lets presume I have version 1.0 running, and that I would like to upgrade to version 1.2.1
I download the 1.2.1 package, unzip it and place it in a directory other than the one I installed version 1 in.
so if my current gallery is http://www.thekhans.me.uk/origami/thegallery
than I presume that
http://www.thekhans.me.uk/origami/gallery/
would be okay.
I then proceed to copy the albums directory from the original gallery to the new gallery.
This is the confusing bit - do I now run install.php or the upgrade script? Upgrade script gives me errors, and the only way I can enter admin mode is by actually installing the package. (Unless of course I am forgetting something!).
If and when I do install the package, I am changing the prefix to cpg11do_
, because I already have another gallery with the default values.
My server is already in sillysafe mode :?
Any more help please?
Thanks,
saj
(quickly running out of ideas and hair to pull!)
PS - I'm not getting notified of any replies (even though I've enabled it in my posts).
-
you'd see me grin in a much more friendly manner if you hadn't removed the "Powered by Coppermine" line on your gallery, I refuse to give further support if the link isn't there.
Moorey has already given a hint on this, you haven't changed it since then, that's it from me...

hi gaugau,
I understand your frustration, but I don't know why the copyright isn't showing up!
Here is the code from my site
</table>
<!-- End standard table -->
<img src="images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="17" /><br />
<div class="footer" align="center" style="padding-top: 10px;">Powered by <a href="http://www.chezgreg.net/coppermine/" target="_blank">Coppermine Photo Gallery</a></div></td>
</tr>
</table>
<br>
</div></td>
</tr>
</table></TD>
</TR>
<TR>
<TD valign="bottom"> <img src="themes/hardwired/images/hw_03.gif"></TD>
</TR>
</TABLE>
As you can see, the code has always been there (if you don't believe me use the wayback machine or something). Why it doesn't show up is beyond me.
Like I said, I am all up for copyright and respecting GPL, please see my forum at
http://www.thekhans.me.uk/phpBB2/
my oscommerce install at
http://www.thekhans.me.uk/catalog/
my links area
http://www.thekhans.me.uk/links/index.php
my stereogram creator
http://www.thekhans.me.uk/stereogram/index.php
my blog

which all acknowledge the original people.
Thanks,

For anyone still interested, I am now getting the following error;

The new install is located at
http://www.thekhans.me.uk/origami/gallery/
As you can see, the copyright does appear this time (and I still don't know why it doesn't appear in my other gallery).
Also the thumbnail image quality is worse compared to my original install at:
[url/http://www.thekhans.me.uk/origami/gallery/[/url]
Anyone know why this is? Both galleries are installed on the same server, running GD Library 1.x, on a safe server. I have added the SILLY_MODE line in config_inc_php and made the necessary CHMOD changes to the necessary directories.
Also changed the &prefix in the upgrade file.
Ideas?

Check that your system date is correct, and if possible upgrade to GD2. You'll notice the thumbnails will improve after being regenerated. Also change the theme to the default theme so you'd know if any errors that comes up aren't likely to come from the theme.
You should be running the upgrade script. If you run into problems, trace it from there - otherwise reinstallation might be a better solution. Good luck!

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. My system time is correct, I've dispatched an email to my host to see what their system time is.
The thumbnail quality returned to normal after I changed the size - it seems that Coppemine was stretching the thumbnails - which is why they appeared so bad.
I have returned the theme to normal. I am still getting the same errors. The query which are echoed are;

When clicking on a thumbnail the following error is produced;
The selected album/picture does not exist !
File: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/thekhans.me.uk/httpdocs/origami/gallery/include/functions.inc.php - Line: 826
Notice: Constant smilies_php already defined in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/thekhans.me.uk/httpdocs/origami/gallery/include/smilies.inc.php on line 20
I have already installed the gallery and ran the update around 6 times now - with no luck :(
I guess I could do a full install, (after deleting existing tables) and then of course just do a batch upload, allowing the server to completely remake the thumbnails and intermediate pictures. Then all that would be required is to somehow dump comments from previous table to the new table.
Thanks for all your help!
saj
EDITED; to remove admin name and password. Casper.

Hi saj,
please be careful when posting queries etc, that you don't accidentally post your admin logon and password.
Thanks to Nibbler for spotting it and bringing to my attention. :wink:
-
@snkhan: Ok I guess I'm just curious why the date of last upload is 1 Jan 1970. Otherwise, where are you at with the problems now? Apart from the thumbnails (which you can resize using the resize util), what is otherwise wrong?
@casper: While it's great that you're around for guidance, perhaps the user/pass could be left for perhaps a for awhile more. That is, if the original poster doesn't remove it in a couple of days - it's after all their responsibility to do so (or change their password) anyway by putting it up in the first place. I'm pretty sure there aren't any crh/ackers lurking around CPG forums waiting to exploit gallery passwords :)
-
admin accounts should never be published, they should only be sent by pm when requested - I think it's ok to remove them on sight (there are mechanisms like the google cache... :wink: ), so I think it was justified that casper deleted the admin password immediately.

D'oh!
I can't believe I missed that one! :oops: Thanks for deleting it casper.
@moorey and gaugau - Everything in the gallery is working fine, exept that when clicking on a thumbnail I am getting the following error;
The selected album/picture does not exist !
File: /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/thekhans.me.uk/httpdocs/origami/gallery/include/functions.inc.php - Line: 826
Notice: Constant smilies_php already defined in /usr/local/psa/home/vhosts/thekhans.me.uk/httpdocs/origami/gallery/include/smilies.inc.php on line 20
Not entirely sure what this means, so any help would be nice.
Thanks,
saj

Hi Saj,
Try putting the catlist and alblist in contents of main page.
Does it still happen when clicking on thumb from main album.
