Title: Flash + Valid xhtml
Post by: Teilanus on September 11, 2006, 10:36:31 pm
Hi!

Is there any way to get valid XHTML (using the satay embed method) in documents where are placed swf objects from an album? ... and also fix the ActiveX warning invoked prompting the user to take action to activate the control?

No, this is a known issue (as suggested in the docs (http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/index.htm#known_issues)):
Quote
<object><param></param></object> construct for multimedia files doesn't validate but is needed for backwards compatibility
Standard compliance and working embedded objects currently can't be accomplished. We're aware of this and tried hard to make coppermine's core code validate. But in the end we realized that we can't make coppermine validate fully and still have working embedding of videos. That's why we chose to go for functionality and sacrifice validity in this aspect.
and also fix the ActiveX warning invoked prompting the user to take action to activate the control?
That's just wishfull thinking. As long as Microsoft doesn't reconsider their ActiveX design, you can't accomplish this no matter what.

Hi!

Thanks so much for your answer.

Anyway, in general I'm very satisfied with coppermine. It's a great solution for mi site.

That's exactly what this mod does - http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=35427.0

I don't think that many people understand it.
