Title: Albums missing after move
Post by: Roger on August 24, 2006, 05:52:48 pm
Hello,

I have moved my site from one server to another.  I copied all the files, updated the coppermine version, put the database in place and now I have several problems:

- Some user galleries are now empty, where they had albums and images on the old server
- All the images are on the new server
- Some user galleries show albums, but show missing images
- Some user albums are complete

This Coppermine installation is bridged with SMF.  The old server is still available, so the original files are all still there.

Thanks,
Roger

Thanks for the pointer, but that didn't work.

It seems all the older galleries are intact, but the newer ones are all gone (images are on the server, but the albums are nowhere to be found).

Sure,

Here's a completely working gallery of one of our members on the new server:
http://www.fencecheck.com/gallery/index.php?cat=10260

Here's a gallery that on the old server had 4 albums, but now has none:
http://www.fencecheck.com/gallery/index.php?cat=10593

The old server is still up and running and you can reach it at 66.228.120.114 (just create a host file for www.fencecheck.com with that ip) and you will see the correct gellery.

Thanks for your time,
Roger

Maybe the database dump you used to create your new gallery with was outdated and therefor didn't contain those newly added pics. Did you create that dump yourself or did you rely on a third party (e.g. web host)? Maybe they gave you an outdated backup instead of a fresh one. Create another dump from your old gallery and one from your new gallery and then compare the two against each other.

I created the dump myself, right before the move, and deactovated the forums and gellery so I wouldn't miss any posts/uploads.  Since the old server is still there, I might create a new one and see what happens.

Thanks for your help,
Roger

Hmmm... I just imported a new copy of the database and the only thing I get now is "Fatal Error"

Ok, updated the database, now I'm back to square one :)  Same issues.

That user doesn't have any files uploaded. If they did it would show in their profile.

That's the problem, that user did have four albums full of files on the old server...

You must have an old or incomplete backup. There is nothing newer than April 28th on your gallery. Perhaps you are backing up the wrong db.

Strange...

I created the back up from phpmyadmin on the old server and put it up on the new server... I must be doing something wrong.  Weird thing is that I used the same technique for my forums and that worked...  forums and gallery are in the same database...  any pointers?

Thanks for your help!

Ok,

Got the right database as a source this time and it works.  Sorry for wasting your time, and thank you for helping this n00b fool out.

Cheers,
Roger
