Title: [Solved] IE always crashes while viewing gallery
Post by: smarko on February 01, 2004, 12:41:48 pm: Some of my users complain that IE crashes while viewing the gallery. The gallery is bridged to Invision board. Nobody have succeeded in crashing their browser while browsing the forum, but when they go view the gallery, they will face the crashing of IE. Maybe not on first gallery page, but after few clicks here and there, yes.

I could only see the thumbs, as you have a javascript protection working (I assume so only logged on members can see, but I don't understand the language).

Windows did not crash for me, so maybe it has something to do with the script.

If you want us to check it out fully, you must supply a test account and password, that allows us to view your site fully.

Most IE crash problems can be fixed by using the Windows Update feature found in the IE tools menu.

I have had a good look around your site, and had no crashes. I agree with hyperion, your users are probably not using the windows update.
Get them to update.

Post by: smarko on February 08, 2004, 07:53:47 pm: Strange.. there seems to be just too many people with this problem with different versions of Windows. Doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe it's a browser bug, which gets triggered, when certain conditions match. My hypothesis is that this has something to do with Javascript, IE6 and IFrame together.

Post by: smarko on February 08, 2004, 09:49:36 pm: I use IFrame to make gallery-pages look fully identical in style to the forum. Meaning, the part where it tells user to login / register or shows username and logout -link for user currently logged in, is actually an IFrame:

Sometimes users say, that their browser crash on frontpage of gallery, sometimes they say, that they manage to click here and there couple of times, and _then_ it crashes. IFrame will be there every time, they are browsing gallery pages. They have never reported their browser crashing on forum pages. (Or did I already said this? Am I repeating myself? Am I repeating myself? Oh, yes.. I am.)

Post by: smarko on February 20, 2004, 12:25:46 am: Oh yes.. I forgot to mention that problem is solved. Problem was caused because of IFrame. After removing it, gallery began to work without any crashes to everyone.
