Title: user-album folder based on username not id?
Post by: zzz on August 18, 2006, 10:59:44 am
hello im wondering whether the user-album folder could be based on the user's username and not id?

i currently run my 1.4.8 bridged with phpbb and disallow symbols and i would like to have a folder for every user on my site - using the coppermine folder layout would be simpler if this hack could be made.

any ideas?

Not a bright idea, as user names may contain characters that are forbidden in folder names. After all, those are just folders that the human doesn't have to memorize, as the database keeps track of the location of files.

could someone show me how to do it though?

as i said before i use phpbb as my registration area and i disallow such symbols in the names - and its for my system not coppermines.

thanks

Not a trivial hack, requires modification of the core code in several places. You need it -> you code it. A wee bit too much effort for something that doesn't really matter - as I suggested, the folder name doesn't really matter.
