Yes,
go in config page and modify the zone called "The content of the main page"
lastalb,x = x lines of last uploaded albums
catlist,x = x lines of cathegories list
alblist,x = x lines of albums list
random,x = x lines of random mages
toprated,x = x lines of top rated images

I'd like to do the same thing, but cannot find the file. I've looked in the "config.php" and can not find the parameters....Where exactly is the "config page" mentioned????
Thanks

I realize that this forum is the CPG 1.2 standalone and I'm using CPG 1.3.2 on a host. Having been chastized over the weekend for a couple of dumb posts, and having read the manual, plus having searched through the CM discussion groups, I am trying here as this is the only thread that comes close.
I, too, would like to turn off the random photos and recent additions. I followed the advice of Jean-Denis and GauGau above. However when I logged in as admin, then clicked admin mode, then clicked "config," I couldn't find the zone mentioned by Jean-Denis. The only zones on my config screen are: General Settings, Languages..., Album List View, Thumbnail View, Image view & Comment settings, Files and thumbnails settings, Files and thumbnails advanced settings, User settings, Custom fields for image description (leave blank if unused), Cookies settings, and Miscellaneous settings. Nowhere do I find how to turn off or on various blocks on the main page. Help for a beginner would be appreciated.
Thanks,

it's in "Album list view", see http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/manual.php#changing (the documentation that comes as well with your coppermine package).
Please read the documentation carefully. If you have a question, re-read it. Read the FAQ. Search the board. Re-phrase your search terms and search again. If you still haven't found what you're looking for, post.
