Title: admin site off
Post by: ymca on May 04, 2006, 04:54:15 pm
Hi,

i saw a text in coppermine that if i make the gallery offline & i close the browser i will not be able to make it online again.
i think that a better thing to do is like in joomla - 1 login for frontend & 1 for backend.
when an admin makes the site offline & close the browser he can always return to the admin login to log as an admin.

Cheers.

there's no actual separation between frontend and backend in coppermine. Joomla and other CMS work differently. Coppermine doesn't have a real separated backend as in Joomla.
When the gallery is offline, the admin can of course still log in to be able to set the gallery back online, so your initial request is invalid.

Gallery is offline
If you have to do maintenance work on your gallery, switch it to offline mode. Only members of the admin group will be able to log in, all other users will only see "Gallery is offline". Remember to switch this option off once your maintenance work is done.

Do not log out while gallery is offline or you will not be able to log in as admin to put the gallery back online.

if i can log in as admin than you are right

Thanks for pointing out that this paragraph in the docs doesn't apply. I removed it from the stable branch of the cvs and the devel branch of the svn.
