Title: Bridge for Joomla 1.08+ (free) by Mehdi
Post by: extrabigmehdi on April 12, 2006, 09:29:41 pm
Hi ,
I was not satisfied by already existings bridging solution  between Coppermine and Joomla ...
So I've develloped my own bridge ...
It works well with current versions ie: joomla 1.08 and coppermine  1.44

I hope you don't mind , but I choosed to release files and "official" explanations on my website only.
Get all required stuff at this link:

http://www.mehdiplugins.com/misc/

EDIT:
FAQ added here:
http://www.mehdiplugins.com/misc/cpgjoomfaq.html

EDIT2:
5 october 2006,
added an online script to quickly fix the CSS of the Coppemine template when
integrated inside joomla template. here:
http://www.mehdiplugins.com/misc/cssintegrator.htm
Hopefully , it would help  people  to fix the CSS of their Coppermine theme  faster, in the context of a visual
integration inside Joomla.  Also it could help newbies that know nothing about CSS.

Added "fixed"   style2.css for classic theme in the zip package.

Improved navigation in the menu of my website. ( so that  people are less lost between all the links)

8 january 2008
EDIT 3:
I've opened a new thread, because   I offer a bridge that  support Joomla 1.5 rc4 too.
here: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=49586.0

Cheers, Mehdi   ;)

PS: the download link works only if javascript is enabled

GREAT!!! Thanks alot i am sure you will make alot of people happy! BUT i have a great Problem, the bridge works for me and a couple of users but most get only a blank page even when going direktly to /index.php of the gallery (without any wrapping in joomla) very strange.. one user even told it works in IE and not in Firefox at his place.. others dont get it to work in any Browser. Well anyone got a idee what that could be? It does NOT matter on the users or anything, i tryed with an user account too .(

Hi ,
I also got a mail , on which a guy was complaining of a similar problem..

So it works for some user and not for others ?
That's quite wierd.
Do they belong to the same "user group" ?

Do you have sef url enabled ? Try to disable this...

You said that for a user it works in explorer and not  in firefox ?
Try to play with option "Session Authentication Method" in server tab , from global configuration in Joomla.

Also try to clean your cookies,  in your browser.... (ask for user experiencing such problems to do so)

Aso maybe this bridge does not work well in conjunction with community builder (I don't use it)
or anything that may affect how the "standard joomla" login.

That's all I have in mind.
Maybe you can post the link or PM so I can take a further look.

The best would be to find how to reproduce the bug.

Thanks for your fast answer. I am the same guy that wrote you. Its like that: it has nothing to do with the login because even if they logout and kill all cookies (or ar guests) they get only a blank site where the gallery should be. I did all with Session Authentication and so on like "Backward compatiblity" and so on... did not work. strange thing is it worx on some users. Must be a stupid little bug. You can test if YOU can see it (i do, but most users dont ;) here:  http://www.hochrhein.biz/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=80

btw. i also tryed with template integration did not work too.

btw. listen, what i found out is - i tried to get to bridgemanager "start bridge assistant" on such a computer (where it did not work) and clicking on that button (start bridge assistant) did not open anything. Maybe it has something to to with it!?

Update: i tested with debug mode and with original templates, makes no difference. As soon as the bridge is activated it does not print anything out for most users and guests. All joomla users are shown as reistered in coppermine at least ;) Well i am not a coder but i guess this is a strange bug and hope you can help finding it.. would be really really nice! ... could you answer me per eMail or did you got a icq account maybe?

Well I've took a look a at the page you showed me and I just don't see any problem either ....
Ask these user having troubles to test if they still have a problem when browsing your website through a proxy.
This proxy: http://www.unipeak.com/
Other suggestion: you should delete the index.html file you have put in your gallery folder.
When I take a look  directely to the gallery folder, i.e: http://www.hochrhein.biz/galerie
I see a blank page,  because of this file.

You can send me a mail by filling the contact form on my website.

My website won't go down .... I use  a good hosting service (not a cheap one).
I'd like to benefit a minimum from  the exclusivity.... (some traffic ...)
You may integrate this bridge on your next release of coppermine...  :-\
but I'm not in a hurry for this.

http://www.hochrhein.biz/galerie direktly does not work for guests/registered
http://www.hochrhein.biz/galerie over a proxy works for all...

any idee now? It isnt our server coz without bridging it works. Hope you can help mate

Friend of mine testet it with wget and it works, so i guess it could be a http1.1 protocoll problem or a useragent switch/check  .. the 2nd one would be the soulution why it worx with anonymous proxie or!?
Title: Re: New Bridge for Joomla 1.08 available (and free)

Hi n0fear2,
I have another suggestion:
add the line :
Code: [Select]
error_reporting(E_ERROR);
or if you want a more detailed output of the error (i.e  with warnings )
the line :
Code: [Select]
error_reporting(E_ALL);
at the begining of your joomla.inc.php script and see error you get.
More details  concerning error_reporting function here (http://www.php.net/error_reporting).

You are probably getting a blank page because of a fatal error,
but your current php configuration doesn't allow to display it by default.
Getting an output of the error would help.
At least try to locate the "exit point" of the script, i.e where this script stop it's execution.
I usually add on the script many lines like:
Code: [Select]
echo "whatever string";If one string is not displayed, then the script has ended before that string.
Well, work a bit, do some debugging....  ;)
If I was able to reproduce the problem I would do this myself, but that's not the case.  ;D

The problem doesn't seems obvious  since its appearition depends of the location of the user who connects to your
gallery. My only suggestion for this would have been to play with option "Session Authentication Method" in server tab from Joomla.
But you said it fix nothing.

Hi, n0fear2 and anyone having the "blank page" problem...
I hope that's not a "wicked bug" appearing randomly and  that concerns everyone,
but instead a bug appearing only for specific php versions.
There's too much similar bugs reported on http://bugs.php.net/ , so I couldn't find
which one  could exactly match this one.

I think I have a solution ... (In fact someone sent me by mail  the trick) . BUT be aware that this solution is not
perfect and that it has at least a small drawback (if you don't discover others).

At the begining of your joomla.inc.php script just add:
Code: [Select]
<?php
error_reporting
(E_ERROR); //avoid any warning concerning headers
echo " "//output a white space, will kill all following headers. Also cookies unfortunately
?>

What the fix does ? It  allows to discard any headers sent by joomla.
Unfortunately, joomla won't be  able also to write any cookie.
Despites this, you are still able to connect ...
Why ? Because the login form redirect you to the index.php file of Joomla which will be able to create
the cookie.  The joomla's index.php  page will itself redirect you to the gallery page.

Now here's a small "bug" you'll observe with this fix :
Copy the direct url to your gallery in your "url bar".
Clean all your cookies.
Close your browser.
Re-open you browser.
Now paste the direct url to your gallery in the url bar.
Try to login.
The first attempt will fail. (not the second)

Why ? because joomla needs to create a first "test cookie"
before allowing the user to login.
That's not possible if you go directely to your gallery page.
However   you won't notice any problem if you visit any
 page of your website before.

I'm not aware of any Joomla's module requiring cookies
to work, but if that's the case you'll also have a problem.

cheers Mehdi

PS: I didn't recieved any mail from n0fear2. I always check my junk mail.
Is it the fault of my hotmail inbox ?

I did everything, deleted cookie, modified Session Authentication Method, I also modified joomla.inc.php... but I still get (i don't think this can help, but I say it: i haven't made any album yet):
-everything if i visit through unipeak.com
-blank page from firefox
-this (http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/4286/appunti013bb.jpg) from opera (in english it is "random images - no image to show ||| last upload - no image to show)
-blank page from IE

Mehdi and all,

I was having the same problem.  I was about to say that this might be worth more problem than it's worth, until I went to the joomla global configuration tab.  From there, I disabled "GZIP Page Compression".  This seems to have helped.

Hope this pointer helps.

I hope your suggestion will make a difference for AvrilBoi.

Thank you so much haligi, without GZip compression it works well!
I've some questions now:
1) In my theme folder (waterdrop) i don't have theme.css, but style.css... what should i exactly do?
2) I didn't convert any charset and i see everything correctly... so... can i continue without converting the coppermine charset? And if i want to, can i do it through phpmyadmin, and how? (I've searched for this on the net, but i didn't find nothing, and the few things i found weren't clear to understand)
p.s. sorry for my eventual bad english, but i'm italian

did not make ANY difference! BUT... disabling GZIP in Joomla fixed the bug.. but WHY? What has gzip in joomla to do with the gallery? Because if i have gzip Enabled in Joomla even the direkt link for a guest in /galerie  does not work.. if its disabled ALL works... is there any chance to disbale gzip ONLY in the bridge mate?

So bug seams to be the GZIP header or something in the Bridge not correctly working in some browser versions - not in FF but in some Versions of IE. Would be cool if you could try to fix that so we can enable gzip again (rest of the site it works since month without any problems)... thank you all alot for helping!

Hi,
let me first answer to AvrilBoi.
1) there was a mistake on my page, it was style.css and style2.css. I've just made the correction.
2) charset conversion.... If you write only in  english in your gallery and in your joomla website, you probably don't have to bother.
I mean you don't use special characters like: é à ç ù ê î .... But  it's better to have the same charset setting for your coppermine gallery and joomla.

Now to n0fear2,
I prefer to answer directly in this forum (you can pm me, if there's something really special & private  )
I don't know why Gzip is inducing problems; but in general I prefer to avoid all these nice extra in Joomla,
that are not necessary to let Joomla work.
Personally I don't have any problem with Gzip but I still prefer to avoid it.

Now to the question:
Quote
Is there any chance to disbale gzip ONLY in the bridge mate?

Well here's a suggestion. Edit the index.php of your Joomla's site and
after the line :
Code: [Select]
require_once( 'configuration.php' );
just add the line:
Code: [Select]
if (defined('IN_COPPERMINE')) $mosConfig_gzip = '0';

If you don't use visual integration, then edit the index2.php file instead.

Cool. Does that hack disable DZIP only on the coppermine pages? Will try this. Well since i disabled the GZIP none of the visitors got any problem anymore. Would be interesting to test on your site if you want and if you got gzip activated.

1) there was a mistake on my page, it was style.css and style2.css. I've just made the correction.
OK, but i still don't understand what to do exactly... maybe just rename style.css so coppermine doesn't use the style.css because copp. doesn't find it, and so the two css files, the coppermine and the joomla one, don't "fight"?
2) charset conversion.... If you write only in  english in your gallery and in your joomla website, you probably don't have to bother.

No... i use italian... so, how to convert the coppermine charset?

Hi
to n0fear2,
the hack disable Gzip only on coppermine pages. Secondarily it helps you to prepare coffee... (don't ask me how  ;D)
No I don't want to enable Gzip on my website just to let you perform a test.
I can tell that I've performed a test locally and it works at 100% with Gzip enabled. (try with Easy php etc ...)
Anyway I think this option is not interesting.

to AvrilBoi
did I said to rename your style.css ? I said to perform a copy , that you'll rename style2.css .
When you enable the bridge style2.css will be automatically used.
If you disable the bridge again the previous style.css will be used. Isn't it more convenient ?
If you don't understand why it is more convenient then just directely edit the style.css file..  ;D (if you wish off course)

how to convert coppermine charset ?
Frankly I don't have enough nerves/spare times to explain this.
You have the choice:
convert Joomla 1.08 into utf-8
OR
convert your coppermine 1.44 into iso-8859-1
Contact each respective support forum depending of your choice.

I'll ask here how to convert the charset.
Title: New Bridge for Joomla 1.08 ... How do I login now?
Post by: scholz on April 19, 2006, 04:06:21 pm
Hi,

I am just putting my new site into the internet. I have choosen the CMS Joomla in its latest version. For me as a beginner it is not quite too difficult to handle it somehow, so that I can get something published. As I am working with photos, I have also in mind to use a gallery.
I had always Coppermine as a stand allone version - it worked fine.
Now I have read about the new bridge and tried to use it, following the instructions given at extrabigmehdi's site.
Well, I had some success!  ;D
I got coppermine integrated rather quickly. http://www.picturepower.de/coppermine/
The design is not yet ready. Because I am no php-programer nor a big expert on html I have now the problem that I can not do the 'login' into my Coppermie. Thus, I can just look at it - that's all - However I would like to configure it, add pictures etc...  :o
Trying to use the 'componente' within Joomla does nothing and when I try to login within Coppermine itself, I get the information that the page does not exist. Typing 'login.php' will also not work. Login is blocked. This appears locical to me, because administration should be from within Joomla. But how?  ???
I have no forum. I am just one single person who wants to show his pictures...

I am sure, that it is only a simple problem for somebody who knows about php. So I don't want to deinstall it, using again the stand-alone-option or some other galery for Joomla. I like Coppermine.

But for me as an php-illiterate ... my activities on Coppermine within Joomla are ending here...

I would be happy if someone has an advice  ;D

(Please excuse my rather poor english, I am out of practice for several years...)

Ciao + happy greetings,

Werner

Hi there, I followed the instructions and when I get through with the bridge manager and click the 'enable' button, the next page I see is a white page with only the following text:
The page you are trying to access does not exist.
Please select a page from the main menu.

Where did I go wrong?

Go to bridgemgr.php page to disable bridge.
Then relaunch the bridge wizard.
Ensure that you are properly setting these parameters:
'full forum/board url' ( forum means  joomla here)
and "relative path".

Some users has reported problems with Gzip enabled on Joomla.
Disable this too...

Tested with core sef on my local computer.
No idea if it works witn any other sef mambot.

To avoid duplicate posts, just post on a single board thanks.

Hi GauGau,
we were talking about Joomla's Gzip support.
To allow "visual integration" of the gallery inside Joomla's template,
the bridge retrieve Joomla's output (from a specific Joomla's page), and then does some post processings.
When Gzip is enabled(inside Joomla) , seems that the bridge, retrieve a compressed output (from Joomla again)
and is just not able to do a proper work with it.
I'm not familiar with Gzip, and I didn't bother with this.

Hi!!

I have got a web page with Joomla 1.0.8, SMF and Coppermine.
Now i have got SMF and Joomla Bridged and Coppermine and SMF bridged also, so my users list is from SMF database.

Also i have got Coppermine Wrapped on the joomla, but i dont like so much that. Could i use your great bridge in my web?
I would like to keep all the SMF bridges... :S
My web: http://todo-motos.es

Thanks!

I think there's no problems. My bridge does not come with it's own login module, and does not affect the behavior
of your current Joomla's install in any way. (I wish all bridges could do this)
Anyway, it is very easy to uninstall this bridge and to recover your old install.

But will your Bridge affect the users of CPG?

Quote
Now, enable the bridge. Go to Admin Tools, choose Bridge Manager and then just follow the Bridge Wizard. Option Joomla! has been added by the previous hack, so choose it. You may hesitate for the option " Use post-based groups?". Answering "yes" means you'll have to manage 9 user groups ( Joomla's user types + Guests); whereas answering "no" means you'll have to manage only 5 groups (default Coppermine's group). I choosed "no" for the simplicity of use. Notice that the bridge provide admin rights only for two kind of Joomla's users : "Administrator"and "Super Administrator" . If you wish to change this, you'll need to edit the script joomla.inc.php.

I have got my groups and my Admins already, and are the SMF ones. How will this work after the install of the bridge?

I need to make the install like i have only CPG and Joomla or i need to make something with the SMF ?

Thanks

Only Joomla's user that are administrator or super administrator will have admin rights in  Copeermine
Otherwise you can manage permissions for each group inside coppermine.
To keep your old users from coppermine (that doesn't exist in joomla), use the quickmerge script.
I believe that SMF manage moderating  rights and groups separately from Joomla (when using the bridge)

Anyway, just perform a test... You can easily disable the bridge if you are not satisfied (and revert back to previous install).

But actually the SMF user is the admin of the CPG.
Joomla and CPG takes the users from SMF.
Could i install a limited version of your bridge that does not include the users?
I mean, my web is working fine but i want to remove the wrap and integrate the CPG into joomla.
I dont need to change the users. :D

Sorry about my english. If you dont understand something just tell me and i will try to explain better.

sorry, but it works as expected  or it doesn't... just test.
I can't provide specific adaptation  of the Joomla <---> Coppermine bridge
just to work in conjunction with the Joomla <---> SMF bridge.
All I can say is I don't see any reasons why these two bridge won't work together.

BTW, I don't know if there's a misunderstanding,
but if you have the  Coppermine <--> SMF bridge enabled you should off course replace it
by the Coppermine <--> Joomla bridge (direct)

I need to test it in another test web. :)

Hey guys!

Just a simple question:
My pictures are stored on a different server (in a subfolder of my friend) and the content of joomla on my server.
Is it possible to use the bridge in situation?

I really hope it is, because on the one hand I don't want to move joomla to the server of my friend (where my pictures are stored) and on the other hand I don't have enough space on my own server for all these pictures ...
Title: Re: New Bridge for Joomla 1.08 available (and free)
Post by: extrabigmehdi on April 27, 2006, 05:31:44 pm
I'm sorry but that's not possible.
The bridge needs to call some files (by using include) from Joomla and Coppermine and that's not possible
if you use two different servers.

Why not install a copy of your joomla's website in your friend's server ?
You could redirect all your visitors there.
I wonder how even are you able to run Coppermine ....
I mean, your Coppermine's script is stored in the same folder as your images , isn't it ?
If not, I'll be surprised.  :D

Ok, I have installed Joomla on my friends site, but when I activate the bridge I get this error:
Code: [Select]
"Please install "com_coppermine" component
Or remove joomla.integ.php file ..."

I already installed this component right at the beginning, so I'm confused :(
Title: Re: New Bridge for Joomla 1.08 available (and free)
Post by: extrabigmehdi on April 28, 2006, 01:00:15 am
All right,
the bridge is unable to detect your com_coppermine component ...
An explanation could be that you  didn't properly set the "the relative path" to your Joomla's install
when using the bridge wizard.
So relaunch again the bridge wizard and check "the relative path" value especially.

Hello.  I have installed this per the directions.  Here is the problem I am having (www.stingsoccer.net).  Maybe someone can help.  I am using Joomla 1.0.8 and CPG 1.4.5.

Note! If a user has signed in to Joomla, there is no problem at all.  CPG works great and is bridged.  :)

Problem: If a user is not signed in (guest access), then when they go to the gallery page - it is distorted.  The Joomla header ends up moving to the bottom (at 800x600 resolution) while CPG loads at 1024x678 (or maybe 100% of the browser window).  The header has the following message "You are not authorized to view this resouce.  You need to login."  Normal users that log in also have this problem.  The only people that don't have the problem is users from the "Author", "Editor", or "Publisher" group.

***************
After troubleshooting to see which new file was causing the problem, I discovered that the functions.inc.php file is the culprit.  When I remove this file (restoring my original one) - everything seems to work fine as long as I run the gallery in a wrapper (and not in a link like I was previously doing).  I'd like to know if I should keep running like it is now, or if see why the function.inc.php is not working.  I don't even know what this file is supposed to do - can someone explain and offer a recommendation?  THX!

Hello, I dont know if this has been asked about before, so I am asking it..

I have installed the bridge for coppermine and I can log in with my Joomla users, but the problem is that I cant use the "Mass and something" button where you dont need to uploard every single pictures manualy, but you can do it over the FTP first and so use this "Mass button".

What can be wrong?

This button works with the bridge off.....

I didn't see any button called, "Mass and something"

Are you unable to  see the button ?
Or it doesn't work ?
If you don't see  it,  then your user don't have the privilege to administrate your coppermine website.

Well try to click where it said "Click here for more information".
Maybe you'll get more informations. ;D
Otherwise as I said, it works for me.
I never got this issue before, maybe someone else can help.
Try to search the forum and see if there's no similar issues, with
and without any bridge.
This bridge rely on the  bridge API provided by coppermine.
So  the same problem might appear with other bridges.

Title: Advanced SEF file for Coppermine bridge available
Post by: kenmcd on June 15, 2006, 12:00:09 pm

A sef_ext.php file for the CoppermineVis bridge was posted in the OpenSEF forum today.
This file enables advanced text-based SEF URLs with CoppermineVis/Joomla/OpenSEF.

You can see the original post with the example URLs here:
CoppermineVis - sef_ext.php
http://www.open-sef.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,164/topic,1925.0

This sef_ext.php file could probably be easily modified to work with this free bridge.
I have attached the file below.

For OpenSef I've added this to installation instructions:

To disable OpenSef only when the bridge is in use, follow these steps : Make a menu item to the component . Now in the configuration panel of Opensef exclude that menu item. You don't need that menu item anymore, so delete it.

for them to get lost :P

And how about functions like e-card and report to admin. Will they still be available ?

Would like to test myself, but currently only have a live site running.

Tnx for the work mehdi

The loss of existing users when enabling bridging applies to all bridges. You don't lose pics, but just the correlation between old coppermine user IDs and new Bridging-App user IDs.

Dear Mehdi
thanks for your bridge its really a great tool, also thanks for CPG team for the fanatstic gallery, if possible i have some questions :
i installed the bridge and all its working fine, but in groups manager i cant find how to create a new group, i want to give new registred users the ability to set their albums by groups, which all will be under the users galleries, like how described here http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=35990.0 (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=35990.0) , with the bridge there are only the joomla users levels, i want to set up 3 or 4 groups types and every group will have the right to set their albums only in their specific album, also when i check assigned album(s) which is under registred users its say : This group has no special access !
thanks and sorry for my bad english

When bridged you must create the groups in the software you are bridged to, not from within Coppermine.

When bridged you must create the groups in the software you are bridged to, not from within Coppermine.

If you choose option "Use post-based groups", with bridge wizard, your groups will correspond to those of Joomla.
Joomla doesn't support creation of group by default.
It exists a component to extend existing groups in Joomla, but the bridge won't support this.

If you choose to disable option  "Use post-based groups", with bridge wizard, your groups will correspond to those of Coppermine.
It seems that Coppermine doesn't allow the creation of group when bridged.

In short you have the choice between sticking with Joomla's default groups or Coppermine default groups.

Hi all,

I have added the bridge for PHPBB and Coppermine and they work fine, so i figure i have missed someting with installing them. When i click a thumbnail image it still displays as a thumbnail not a normal size image. i have search the forum but have not found a post that seems to have the same problem.

This thread discusses the bridge between Joomla and Coppermine. How is your bridging between phpBB and Coppermine related? Post a deep link to your coppermine gallery if you are actually using the bridge discussed in this thread. If you have posted here in error and are actually using the phpBB bridge, then start a new thread on the board that deals with bridging, doing as suggested in the sticky thread there.

hi radial00,
I took a look,
first it's not the thumbnail that you see,
in fact it's the "normal size", but since wrong dimensions are specified in the image tag, (i.e 100x75)
you believe it's a thumbnail.
I don't know what you've done,
but try to unbridge and see if you have the same problem.
I guess it's not related to the bridge,
but to a misconfiguration of Coppermine.
Title: Re: Bridge for Joomla 1.08+ (free) by Mehdi

thanks for the reply i did as you said and coppermine as a stand alone APP worked fine so i re-read the bridging instructions and applied the bridge same result as before, i then left coppermine bridged but remove the integration and the images display normal. So i think your right about a misconfiguration.

Thanks for your help  :)

Great bridge! I would like to install it but I want to make sure about one thing first. I already have my coppermine install bridged with my phpBB install.. thus the coppermine users are shared with phpBB. Will this MOD still work or will it delete all my existing phpBB/Coppermine users (I don't care about the users currently in Joomla)
Title: Re: Bridge for Joomla 1.08+ (free) by Mehdi

Then this bridge is not meant for you, as you'll lose all existing users. Coppermine can only be bridged to one app at a time. Never touch a running system.

Hi Mehdi,

thank you very much for your bridge. I like that, but i have an important question.
The Userstrukture in Joomla ist built up in levels. Registered users can´t do or see what Authors oder Publishers can do or see. In CPG the usergroups are not build up in levels, they exist side by side. Is ist possible to display the contents, intendet to the Authors, also for the Puplishers? - or the contents intendet to the Editors, also can be shown for Managers?
I´m not good in php, but i think this part of joomla.inc.php is responsible for gathering the album contents to display for the specified usergroup and the free album contents:

Quote
//------ from here almost nothing is changed ------------

                            $user_group_set = '(' . implode(',', $USER_DATA['groups']) . ')';
                            $USER_DATA = array_merge($USER_DATA, $this->get_user_data($USER_DATA['groups'][0], $USER_DATA['groups'], $this->guestgroup));

                            if ($this->use_post_based_groups){
                                    $USER_DATA['has_admin_access'] = (in_array($USER_DATA['groups'][0] - 100,$this->admingroups)) ? 1 : 0;
                            } else {
                                    $USER_DATA['has_admin_access'] = ($USER_DATA['groups'][0] == 1) ? 1 : 0;
                            }

                            $USER_DATA['can_see_all_albums'] = $USER_DATA['has_admin_access'];
                            // avoids a template error
                            if (!$USER_DATA['user_id']) $USER_DATA['can_create_albums'] = 0;
                            // For error checking
                            $CONFIG['TABLE_USERS'] = '**ERROR**';

Perhaps a small modification can gather the contents of the "lower" usergroups to. Perhaps a small modification can make it possible, that at least one group can automaticly see the own group content and the group content of an other usergroup?
That would be great.
What do you think?

However i advise you to use CPGMassImport plugin. Disable bridge before running it and then re-bridge coppermine using admin's tools.

I used your bridge for coppermine on joomla, and it works fine. But i'd like to be able to have homepage = http://mysite.com/coppermine/index.php.

As joomla's homepage is driven by FrontPage  component or the fist linked main menu component, i've tried tu put the cpg menu link first in menu list (CPG/news/flash/help... for instance)

I got the message (The page you are trying to access does not exist.
Please select a page from the main menu.)

Do you think there is a way to have coppermine in joomla homepage ?

Bonjour,

On this part of the board, only English is being acceptable. Turn notices_display off unless you're a developer and know what those notices actually mean.

Please try it for us and report back, for the benefit of others. We (the Coppermine devs) don't use Joomla, so we can't advise.

Hi all,
I've done extensive searching and it does not appear that there is a working version of xp_publish for the Joomla->Coppermine bridge.  I played around with it last night trying to come up with a solution, but ran into a snag.

The main issue I had (and it appears the same as others) was that I could not login.  It kept telling me the username/password was invalid and would prompt me to enter it again.  To get past this, I copied the login method in the <joomla_dir>/includes/joomla.php, added it to the joomla.inc.php file, renamed the function to "login2", and then pointed to that in the process_login function in xp_publish.php.

This appears to work like a dream as it allows me to login.  I then have the option to select a previous album or create a new one.  When I create a new one, it does add the record to the albums table.  It then will upload the pictures through the Wizard.  The kicker is that the records are not added to the pictures table.  I also cannot find where the files are being uploaded to.  Is there a way to determine where the files are being uploaded to?  Also, is there a way to display the SQL statements that are being executed to see why the records are not being added to the pictures database?

I haven't had a lot of time to play with this yet.  I've had this happen before even when Coppermine was not bridged.  Usually if I deleted temp files and/or rebooted, it worked like a dream.  However I did both last night and got nowhere.  Thanks for any ideas!

Neal

I have successfully bridged Joomla 1.0.12 with Coppermine 1.4.10.

My Joomla build is:
Joomla! 1.0.12 Stable [ Sunfire ] 25 December 2006 01:00 UTC

Scratch the above...I did not have my quota large enough for the Registered group...that is why the pictures were not appearing.

The problem I'm having now is that if I create an album within the XP Publisher, it will create it, however nothing will upload to it the first time.  If I run the wizard again and select the album from the drop-down list, it works like a dream.

This will be excellent if it works...I'm running into some funky bridging problems now that I'm not sure existed once I started tinkering with the joomla.inc.php file.  Mainly when I select "logout" out of the Joomla menu, it takes me to the Coppermine logout screen.

Thanks Mehdi for this solution. I installed it and its working great so far. The only thing I wish I could do is put a "My Album" tab in the community builder profile. I have not tried creating a "creative tab" for it yet but I am assuming it would need some coding for situations where a user does not have an album(?).

Thanks again

What about something to just make a link to your gallery in the joomla main menu or user menu?

Hi All

I've tried searching on this but couldn't find anything so don't shout at me if it's been discussed before.

I have installed this Bridge by Mehdi and everything works superb except for some of my FireFox users where it doesn't seem to be logging them into Coppermine. All users of Internet Explorer have no issues at all.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

David James

Did you read the initial announcement (first post in this thread)? Link there is still valid, I just tried. We don't know nor care for Joomlapolis, nor do we care for broken links that may or may not exit there.

I've installed this bridge on joomla 1.013 and coppermine 1.4.12. All works well though a www. left off gave me a login issue. Quick email to dev and reply fixed it within hour. Many, Many thanks - the joomla galleries are all a bit pale compared to  proper one.

I've just installed this mod for a friend (I don't really get on with joomla though) using Joomla 1.013 and CPG 1.4.14 and all works perfectly.

Attached are the modded bridgemgr.php and functions.inc.php files you will need for the bridging (assuming you have not applied any other mods to these files already)

It's also a good idea to remove the login/logout button from the breadcrumb list as this is controlled by joomla once bridged. How to do this is covered elsewhere on this site.

Hi,

I currently installed the coppermine bridge for joomla and followed the steps on the website, but did not integrate with joomla. i got a message in the joomla admin saying "Nothing to configure for the component com_coppermine. You can forget it." i currently have my website root like... http://www.website.com/mc/  ...  will that be a problem?
