I have a (hidden) gallery available only to a registered group of users, which works fine.
I want to make a small number of photos from that gallery available to all users.
I can link to them as in the FAQs and this appears to place them in the sample gallery - however logging out reveals that they are actually only available to the registered users. I also notice I can't choose a gallery thumbnail from the sample gallery.
Is there an alternative, other than to create two instances of each image?
Thanks as always, Tom.

I have no idea what your sample gallery is configured like, and it's quite hard to imagine without seing it. Even harder to recommend anything. I'd post a link if I were you...

Thanks, www.wrestlingphotos.co.uk. Look in LDN category. The album LDN Walthamstow 27/03/06 contains one linked file (the file is in an album restrcited to one user group). Selecting the album does not show the linked file. I would like this viewable by all, but to be housed in the 'hidden' album.

linked files respect permissions. If they are in an album that the currently logged-in user doesn't have access to, then the user can't see it. If this wasn't the case, the album keyword feature could be (ab)used to drill wholes into the security concept of the entire site. Bottom line: you can't do what you're up to without seriously damaging the functionality and security of your site.

Ok thanks, was hoping to reduce duplicity, but if it's a security implication it is a small price to pay.

What you can do is put the public files in public albums, then link to them from the private album, rather than the other way around.
