Hi,
I browsed through the different forums and did a search but didn't find the sollution. If it's already been posted, please forgive me and give the url.
My characterset is Unicode (recommended) (utf-8). The names under my pictures don't show up well. For instance: "Frédéric Gaspard" becomes "Fr?d?ric Gaspard".
See http://www.d-eye.be/portfolio/thumbnails.php?album=24 (http://www.d-eye.be/portfolio/thumbnails.php?album=24)
I'm I overlooking something?
Thanks very much!

Did you perform an upgrade? If yes, perform the db update as well.
-
Gaugau, I did the upgrade last year but this album is brand new...
-
OK, let me put this the other way 'round: is your database set to utf-8 as well? You appear to have a mixture of pre utf-8 and post utf-8 text on your page
-
Sorry for my ignorance Gaugau, but how can I check this? Really appreciate your effort already!
I looked in my database and in the caption field the é character is replaced by an accentuated Z... Maybe this helps...
-
Methods to check:
1) Go to http://yoursite.tld/your_coppermine_folder/charsetmgr.php
2) Use a tool like phpMyAdmin to check the encoding
If you decide to convert, you'll have to understand that text that already is in utf-8 will have funny results and will need manual editing. Backup your database before converting

Thanks Gaugau...
Still doing something wrong :-[ When I ask the charsetmgr.php file, all I get is "Access denied". I checked the permissions on that file (644) and changed them to 777 but no go...
OK. I had to login first at my copperminesite then it worked. I got the message "Your site is already configured to use utf-8. You don't need this script and should leave this page.". Seems that my encoding is ok...
In phpMyAdmin I just see on the main page an option "Language" which I changed in Dutch-nl-utf-8 but I don't know if that's for the databases...
Thanks again!
-
I just changed all the instances directly in the database...
-
issue solved then?
-
Well yes, but I had to go through 30 pictures... I'm not planning to do that all the time... This item can be closed. Thanks for your kind help!
