I would like to be able to search the "Album Description" field.
I did a rather enthusiastic search of this 'board and saw a couple folks say that this was contained in a Mod, but I couldn't find the Mod.
RSVP. Thanks for your time.

are you sure those posts where for cpg1.4.x? The search has changed completely from cpg1.3.x to cpg1.4.x (under the hood).

Re-searching "'Album Description' search", "'album description' mod" and "'album description'". There are references to 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 (I use the newest 1.4.3).
In any event, is what I ask possible? Mod or plugin, perhaps?
I would rather not have to enter searchable terms for each picture.

I have no idea, as you chose not to post links to the mods you're refering to ::). I guess if the mod says it is for cpg1.4.x you can use it in any case.

Sorry for the confusion. Let me try to phrase this differently:
There are a couple of posts that say, "Look in the Mod Forum" or "Look in the Plugins Forum" and I can't find anything there. You, yourself in one of the posts say that this is impossible for 1.2, but that doesn't make a difference now.
If you could please tell me if this is even possible, now, I will cease searching.

Sure it's possible. You just want to search the album description and return a link to albums that match? That's fairly straight-forward. I don't see anyone who's done this for 1.4.x yet (on a rudimentary search). A mod wouldn't be that difficult, the question is could a plugin be made? That's the trick. Avoid modding the core is my motto. Let me see about this ... I'm still learning how to play with the plugin system so it'd an interesting task since it seems so simple ... (famous last words probably)

Thanks! Either/or is fine with me, nor do I mind directed hacking of the search engine (I'm used to that from phpBB and vBulletin).
For my purposes, the Album Description is far more important than the picture description and if I can get the search to work on that, I will be happy as a clam.

Here's a plugin that should do what you want: http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=26483.0 (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=26483.0).
Please test it out and let me know if you see any issues. I think I checked it out thoroughly.

Thanks very much. I will test it shortly.
