Title: MOV File Upload problem
Post by: hainsnet on December 15, 2005, 03:17:21 am
Hi there.

Just to let you know I have searched this forum for solution before posting, and checked as much as I could before asking here.

I have a problem uploading MOV files. WMVs and JPGs seem to work OK, but when I try to upload MOV, I get a message saying "O fIles were uploaded". Not a serious looking error, but I know that the upload did not work.
I've checked as many relevant settings as I can see, and found nothing really amiss.

The server is a Red Hat (Fedora 4) box that I run here in my office. Its address is gallery.hainsnet.com.
Below is the debug dump that is requested.

Please advise.

Thanks
Greg

Don't post debug output unless requested.

Troubleshooting the upload process. (http://coppermine-gallery.net/tutorial/uploads/troubleshooting.php)

Thanks for the prompt reply. Sorry for the debug info - it just seemed to be helpful to those answering other jobs.
I have changed the Single File Upload option and that did not help - simply said to check if File Uploads were enabled (or words to that effect)

The site is http://gallery.hainsnet.com. The non-admin user to test with is "troubleshoot" and it's password is "coppermine".
Any help you can give me is appreciated.

Cheers,
Greg

I was able to upload just fine, see http://gallery.hainsnet.com/displayimage.php?pos=-368
Maybe your upload timed out if the video file is too large. You (as admin) should use FTP-upload plus batch-add anyway. If this doesn't solve your issue, do as suggested in the troubleshooting tut and enable debug_mode for everyone.

Hi.

I saw the post you uploaded and that is a JPG file - I have no problems with JPG or WMV files - only MOV (Quicktime). I have even tried a 200K MOV file that it wont accept so it's not a size issue.
Any other ideas please?

I've uploaded a mov file to your gallery fine, there is no reason why a specific file type should fail to upload.

Hi Nibbler.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I just did some further tests pertaining to the file size and found that I could upload a 730KB MOV file (dont belive Ive changed anything, but hey...), but was unable to upload a 4.8MB file. I have checked the upload size limit in Config and that is set to 20000KB (I assume 20000 is the correct format), so are there any other settings I need to check please? The biggest file I would need to upload is less than 20MB.

Cheers,
Greg

Look at the debug info you posted - your upload_max_filesize is set to 2MB. That's a server setting (php.ini), not a Coppermine setting.

Nibbler.

Found the offending line in the PHP.INI and ammended it. Thanks for your help  - I am fairly new to Linux and this "extra-Coppermine" support is appreciated. I will test it now and see how it goes.

Cheers,
Greg

Hi. Me again. Sorry.

Amended that file then rebooted the server - to ensure the settings took properly - but still no luck uploading larger files. I go to the Upload file screen, load a single file, and after the little progress bar on the bottom of the browser flikers for a few seconds, it returns to the screen where I am prompted to locate a file for upload - just as if my input for the file location had been removed. No error message.
