would be nice if in the catlist would be possible to choose an image to represent the hole category, or, even better, to upload an image to do that (this would be a first step to a more user friendly theme customization)
-
I second that. I just saw this after posting a similar request.
-
This has already been done in the CVS
-
What is CVS?
-
CVS= Concurrent Versions System (http://www.cvshome.org/). The place where the code base is stored on which the dev team works on. In other words: the feature you requested is already in the code that will become the next release.

Awesome! Thx

Do you have an estimate on when the next release will come out with this addition? I tried using the CVS files and that turned into a big mess. If the next version won't be out for a while, can you point me in the direction of some instructions on how to properly install the software using the CVS files? Or do you have Beta versions for use?
Thanks!!!
*yes my newbie status is showing. :)

I'll package up a non-public beta for our testers in the near future - you can "earn" tester status by contributing to coppermine (be it a mod, translation, or support work). Don't expect a public release in the near future (at least you'll have to hold your breath for the next two months  ).

Well (going a bit off topic here) I am not all that proficient in PHP but I have kind of improved on the Watermarking mod. It is a bit crude but it allows the user to pick which images they watermark and which ones they don't. I haven't released it to the public yet because I am still testing it and it is just a add on to a combination to a few other watermark hacks. Would that be considered a mod? :)
-
yes, please post it in a separate thread when it's ready - I'll move it to the mods section then.

when is the next release? i cant' wait for it!

That's the question the dev team likes best - can't wait to give the usual answer: "When it's ready"

Ok done. :) It is located at http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/viewtopic.php?p=14380&sid=d0b342fd9e461b22d6c502a0f09abbc6#14380
hopefully someone finds it useful. :)

@Karri: although I appreciate that you share your modification of coppermine with us, your posting is somewhat "off" because this thread deals with a category list thumbnail  !

Yes I know but I am following up to your previous posts to me in this thread in which you said you can "earn" tester status by contributing to coppermine (be it a mod, translation, or support work).
to which I replied I had a bit of a mod to a watermark mod and you replied yes, please post it in a separate thread when it's ready - I'll move it to the mods section then
which I did. So I replied to that post letting you know that I had posted it as you requested. Was there a better way to alert you to the fact that I had done as you requested than to respond to you about it in the thread where you requested I do it? Your signature requests people not PM you but post on the board so the thread in which the issue was addressed initially seemed the logical place to respond. If there is a better way to respond to a request you made I would be happy to do it in the future.
Thanks.

No problem, I'm not offended or anything; I was just posting my reply to let other visitors to this thread know taht your link is unrelated.
The magic works like this: I read all new postings on this board every day - no matter where you post a hack, I'll notice it  ...

I understand now. :) I didn't realize you read them ALL, I don't eveny you keeping up with it.
Thanks for the great software and I look forward to the new features. :)

It's there, in the code for 1.3. You can't just seperate it out and add it to 1.2 though.

This actually HAS something to do with the original topic...
I can't really figure out exactly what this function is doing, therefore I don't exactly know if this is a feature request, or an error report...
1: Does the Category thumbnail selection in catmgr.php include all albums inside a category?
2: If that's the case, is this also true if the categories are nested?
I have some nested categories on my site, and when I try it out I almost draw the conclusion "no" on nr. 2
It would have been cool though if the thumbselection for the category can be selected from all it's descendants...

Hi John,
at the moment, when selecting the cat thumb, pics in child categories are not included in the choice.
But there is a workaround, although not very nice.
Find the pic you want to use, move the album that pic is i into the main cat. Edit the cat, select the thumb, then move the album back.
This works, but not if you use random, or last up.
-
Hehe, I should have thought of that...
Then this is a feature request, one that might also have been submitted earlier? (Since you specified "at the moment"...)
Thanks for your workaround.
To everybody else: It worked.
John
