Title: Gallery too large... question
Post by: autumn_whispers2me on December 10, 2005, 05:50:04 pm
My gallery is so large that this last upgrade too forever.  :(  I have so many pics and albums.  Anyway, is there a way to create another gallery and move albums from one to the other instead of uploading each and every file again?

Thanks.  :)

Why did your upgrade take a long time?  All you do is back up your database, your config.inc.php file, and your anycontent.php file, then upload the new 1.4.2 files and run the update.php script.

The instructions don't say to download anything - just make a backup of the items I listed in my earlier post.

Well I feel like a dufus.   :-[  There wasn't anything in the gallery itself (admin or config) that I saw to make backups.  I guess I was just confused and downloaded dopies of the files needed backing up. lol

My gallery has over 20.000 images, more then 8000 albums and 500 categories. Upgrading and making the nescessary changes to my theme took me 20 minutes. If you have enough space on your server, like I had, I made a copy of the album folder and put it outside my cpg folder.

Wow, that's a lot of images. :)  I'm not sure if I can copy and move a directory like that... I'm sure I can, just not sure how.  Thanks for letting me know that, though.

My gallery has over 52,000 pics in it and only took 5 minutes to upgrade !! (www.dianajameson.com - adult content - beware!)

Latest version works really well!
