Title: THANKS to the devs
Post by: DJMaze on November 29, 2005, 04:16:11 am
I hope this becomes the "thank you" thread of all satisfied users.
Afterall it's getting pretty annoying that there are so much issue/complaint threads although there are millions who like coppermine.

Gracias, merci buckets, kudos, and thank you all.  The developers do a great job of course, but I have to say the support staff are equally as impressive (and many are both!).  When one person out of 24000 has 16% of the posts on the forums, I have to wonder if a dozen or two support people make up almost half of the posts.  That's what I call service!  Your patience is inspiring.

Onward & upward!

I just wanted to thank all of the people who contributed to the creation of this wonderful piece of software.
I use coppermine photo gallery on my website, and I'm very pleased with it.

Thanx, Thanx, and another Thanx

many thanks people, I really like the software.

I'd like to adhere to Paver's salutation.

I've yet to see a board where the devs are so active and gives responses so fast. I believe that's a big part of why people become willing to contribute (in any way, be it support, hacks, translations, etc..) - people feel like a part of the team.

Kudos. :)

I would like to add my thanks as well.

The Gallery software is a pleasure to use, giving great results. Wish I had found out about it a long time ago.

Hello,

I just wanted to say that after months of hesitation I have upgraded my Coppermine gallery to 1.4.3 from 1.3.1. The reason for my hesitation was remembering the nightmare it was to get the bridge between Coppermine and Invision working back then. WOW! Was I ever suprised! 1.4.3 is SO MUCH CLEANER than older versions! GREAT JOB! I would have no problem paying for Coppermine if it wasnt free. I actually purchased Invision Gallery for roughly $65.00 I think and ran it for a few months then dumped it for Coppermine.

When I first activiated the bridging, the software went a little crazy but after logging out and back in again it was fine. Anyway, I wanted to express my appreciation for your programming efforts. The intigration between Coppermine 1.4.3 and Invision 2.1.4 couldnt be any smoother! It's AWSOME!

It was my intention to come on here and start a thread thanking the devs, but I saw this one so I will add to it rather then create a new one.  THANK YOU DEVS!!! I sure hope you realize how much you are helping people.  The Gallery was easier to setup then I anticipated and I am able to modify it to my likeing.  If an idiot like me can get this up and running on my site, you have done an excellent job of giving documentation and making it as easy as possible.   ;D

Thank you again and keep up the great work!!

Maybe wrong forum ;-)
I want to thank for the great cpg. I know it for a month now and I love it. It is also good to be able to change some minor things to make it just what we want. And that's part of the package too.
But most of all: I am impressed by the quality of the support in this forum. The cpg-people know their package very well, and there is always a quick response and to-the-point. Even on Chrismas-days! And sometimes you are so very patient when having a complete dialogue with someone..... Thank you for your knowledge and for sharing it. And thanks to other forum-participants also.

I'd like to contribute my thanks for the developers of Coppermine gallery software.

Before coppermine I had some poor plain html frameset with crappy irfanview "galleries"
(I do NOT mean irfanview is crappy).

I have now learned a bit more of coding and learning small bits now and then when modifiying Coppermine.

Sorry if this was too much like "shopping tv" advert, but I'm in loooooove with my Coppermine installation  :D

Thank You !

As a UNIX system admin, I install a lot of this stuff. When I saw the installation notes, I noticed they were ridiculously short. Fortunately, installation was also ridiculously easy. :) Seriously, not sure what other folks are on about, but I've never had a more simply, straightforward, and working installation than for this photo gallery. Not one single hicup or error! I was gonna say: all programs should be like this; but if things become that easy, then I'm out of a job soon. :)

Not to mention that the program itself is truly awesome.

I want to reverberate meimeiriver's comments about how simple it is to install, modify and upgrade Coppermine. I spent a lot of time last year trying to find a decent solution for hosting youth sports photos from my community. I acually found this in the GoDaddy's Value Application section and checked it out. Took a chance and been extremely happy ever since plus I've install another one for my personal gallery and at least a dozen for friends and colleagues and all installs were under an hour (including setting up the database connections). The devs here are extremely knowledgable about their product and when approached with a problem, are eager to assist (I can understand their frustration when people don't use the search feature or read the manual but it's the way the world turns).

Thank you for a great product!

Cheers,

Billy   :D

[Edited] Do not install Coppermine (or any other application) through your hosting service. Download it from the respective site and install it yourself.

;D Add me to the list of those lauding the developers/contributors on such a great application.  Installation/bridging was very smooth, and required some minor tweaking, and now have an album for family to share with one another.

Thank you so very much for all the hard work, sweat and hairpulling (I'm sure) to make this available to the public.  Excellent job!

Kindest regards,

Count me in.  I've installed it a while back and I'm really stunned with the functionality and stability.  I tested quite a few other 'candidates', but I was sold the minute I had a closer look at coppermine.  State of the art!

Thanks!

I had considered Coppermine in the past, but it was missing a few things I was looking for. However, I now finally decided to give it a shot, because it looked like it had a lot of added features since I first checked it out at least two years ago.

I installed the script yesterday and spent a few hours customizing it. I don't think I have ever had a feature-rich script, such as Coppermine, being that easy to customize. I ran into one problem with profiles last night, and decided to post on the board. Both of my questions, including a customization, were answered immediately by the team. I am so impressed!

You (and I) have no idea how many hours/days/weeks I have spent on trying to bend gallery scripts to make them do what I wanted them to, in the past years. This is -finally- the perfect one for me, not one bit I am missing, I can only look forward to extras in the future. Thank you also for the awesome support! I checked into donations, but apparently you don't accept any, so I will start by posting ratings/reviews for Coppermine.

Thank you very much and have a great day!
Jael :)

All of you at Coppermine - YOU ROCK!!!!

In one day I installed Coppermine 1.4.5 to my home based server (MS WinNT4.0, IIS4.0, PHP5.0 and MySQL5.0 with a $10.00 Goodwill computer), I'm at http://pirateweb.homeip.net/cpg145/index.php

The installation was FLAWLESS

I had only one problem during the operations and that was BATCH UPLOAD whereas I made all the necessary folders, but they didn't SHOW during the batch upload selection...UNTIL I changed the Browsable interface (recommended) to NO.

You guys have developed a VERY EXCELLENT product for everyone...it's smooth, clean, efficient.  Your support board here, which I've read just about all the posts, is extremely helpful, courteous, knowledgeable (gets the job done).

So all of you who are having issues...just remember - ONE THING AT A TIME, you'll get this working...it's a GREAT PRODUCT by SOME REALLY DEVOTED PEOPLE!!!

Can't believe I haven't posted in here yet!  :-[

Huge thanks for a super product.  I spent many hours looking for the best gallery script available, OS or otherwise, and found it here in coppermine.

I have been using it since October and have a gallery with over 50,000 piccies and over 20,000 members.  It's a busy, busy site and coppermine has stood up to the job and generally exceeded my expectations and needs.

The dev team have been wholely supportive, helpful and patient.

Response time has been amazing and I know I wouldn't receive support like this with a proprietary product.

You guys rock.  Thank you.

Hey guys -
I just wanted to take a moment to let you know what a fantastic job you are doing! I stated using CPG just this week (and tried implementing the SMF yesterday), and yes, I have had a lot (A LOT) of problems, but it seems like you guys have been there RIGHT AWAY to help out (!!!) - I don't know of many other places where support is that good and dedicated. -The problems I have experienced have basically been about me not being able to find the right place in the manual, but then you guys have a link ready in two seconds ... Thank you for that!!!

CPG is not just a fantastic piece of software (that has really changed my way of looking at online gallery - I see ALL different kind of potentials in this now), the site is run  by a great and dedicated group!!!

Thank you all    (- and see you in the support-threads ...  ;) )

I originally installed Coppermine via Fantastico, and was suprised to find that it's extremely easy to customize - easier than phpBB, which I also use extensively.  Decided to bridge the two, and figured I'd upgrade Coppermine before doing so - easiest install I've ever done!  I did lose my custom theme in the process, but that's my fault.  Shouldn't be too hard to create again.

Awesome job, devs!

I came here to the forums to specifically say THANK YOU!!! I just installed it the other night and had NO problems (I didn't even do a live demo!). I followed the instructions which were actually written properly for someone like me! And so far I'm impressed with the FAQ which looks like it gives detailed instructions for 'users'!!  ;D

Now all I need to do is figure out the email settings (blank doesn't seem to be working) and then I can "Bridge" it to my Forums!!  :D

I'm very excited that I found this great Gallery program!!  ;D

This may not be proper BB etiquette, but I wanted to give a sincere word of thanks to all of the developers and supporters of this product. A day ago I didn't even have a website.  Today, I have a website and using only the documentation provided by the project I have installed and configured Coppermine.

Bravo!

What a fantastic and feature rich application you guys have developed!  Previously, I had been trialing smugmug and whilst they certainly have some nice features/templates that are yet to be replicated here - in general they do not even compare to the power and flexibility of Coppermine.  Additionally, Coppermine seems to be virtually bug free by comparison - it's all working fantastically out of the box.

Well done guys and keep up the great work.

Thank you.

I have a PHPBB fourm and was trying to use some mods to make it easier for pictures to be used.  I also chekced out several other gallery type packages, sadly I finally gave up a few months ago.  In my searches then I did not find Coppermine for some reason.

Four days ago I found Coppermine and gave it a try.

My reaction:  OMFG this is *&^%$ing awesome!!!!!

The ease of install, the ease of "customizing", the ease of use is right off the top of my scale!!  I love this thing!!

In a matter of just a couple of hours I had the gallery installed, and over 1600 pictures imported and categorized!!!

Many many many thanks to all the devs, retired and active, for this awesome, awesome piece of software!!!!!

I came back tho the Coppermine homepage for the sole purpose of sending a thank you email to the the devs, or support guys, giving them my support and happiness...then I saw this thread...thiank you (too) for starting the thread!!!

Give it a visit if you want...    http://www.bigjoeduke.com

Used Coppermine on and off for around 2-3 years? Kind of forgot. Installed it the first time years ago over others because wow, Coppermine is just.. so COOL. Because of issues with my ISP locking up my server, I had no access to the site I created for my Scout Group. So I dropped it

Years later now, I've decided to do it again and chose Coppermine, AGAIN!

You guys know why I chose Coppermine over and over again. It is just so good.

Thank you developers for making such a great Photo Gallery available for free!

Yes, a BIG thanks to the devs!

I'm using CPG for only 3 1/2 months and my site is up 2 1/2 months by this time writing.
By reading the documentation, seen the examples, reading and reading again the forum I was able to achieve more than I could imagine for that time!
I've seen other software like that, but none was that easy to use and note they had the functionality of CPG.

Especially, a big thanks for the support forum. Quick and accurate replies have made a huge knowledge base.

Keep on!

You guys rock the planet!

I'm just getting started with my project called The Florence Academy Forum, an online extension of my school, The Florence Academy of Art (we are a small academy of realist sculptors and painters in Florence Italy.)  I have Coppermine bridged with phpBB and I never imagined how powerful these two would be together.

http://florenceacademyforum.com/phpBB/

and follow the link to the gallery

Thanks to you guys, and phpBB, I was able to launch this project and land a juicy scholarship!  You certainly deserve donations.  I wish there was a way to donate because at the moment I lack the know-how to develop the code further.

Many thanks from myself, the other students, and our school's Director Daniel Graves. ;D

I Heartilly thank the entire dev team for a great peice of software and some superb support of these forums.

At first I was a bit nervous of posting on here after reading some of the abusive threads. At first it lookd as if some of the devs were a little abrupt or aggresive but as you read more you soo learn that they are all trying to help. It's obvious that many of the devs give up plenty of their valuable time every day to provide support to all those who ask. It is also obvious and understandable that at times they get frustrated when people (including myself) do not read the documentation, don't do as asked or ask the same questions that have been asked a million times not to mention flaming. From running my own forum (and mine is much smaller than this), it's not just a matter of answering all the questions. There is also spam to deal with and many other tasks that use up this valuable time. On top of that they have to continue developing coppermine. I have learnt bucket loads from this site and just wish my skills were good enough to contribute.

There is also a language/ international culture barrier. People from one country may not understand fully a question asked or may reply in what to those of another nation see as abrupt. The language and culture of some nations just translates that way and in some cases coming across as rude especially to us British. In 99% of cases it is not meant that way. Feelings can be hard to express in words when you are short on time.

Next time you wnt to ask for support think about what you are asking for first and if you don't get the response you expected then ask yoursely why taking into account the above.

Once again, thanks to all the team.

I was looking for an email address to send my praise, but this will have to do.

I work at Lewis Media who helped develop SMF, so I have a lot of interaction with open source software. I also spend a lot of time integrating open source software with our CMS - which as you can imagine can be a bloody nightmare. I have never had the pleasure of working with Coppermine before, but what a breath of fresh air! Not only is your theme-ing system incredibly easy to use and efficient, but it actually works exactly the same way as our CMS theme-ing system! What I thought was going to take me a day to figure out took me all of an hour to do.

YOU GUYS ROCK!

Title: Thank You!
Post by: Coppertop on December 23, 2007, 10:38:30 pm
I don't know if this is the appropriate forum for this but I just want to thank the developers of Coppermine!

I have been struggling to get a website up and running.  I tried to build one with MS Publisher and even dabbled with Nuke-Evolution.  I ran across Coppermine while searching for Evolution Themes and was thrilled.

All I want is a website to showcase some of my photography and Coppermine fits the bill perfectly.  It's easy to manage, customize and looks great.  Eventually, I'll expand it for registered members but for now, it's simply a showcase of my work.

Thanks again.

If I have posted this in the wrong place then please be gentle with me as I am new to forums.
I have (eventually) got your modpak to work on 1.4.16 and I love it. It is nice and clean and easy to see.
My history in programming is using Basic, Basic plus and Fortran 4. (gives you an idea of my age) so I will not be making any coding changes.
Between Coppermine and your modpak Stramm I am very happy with my website.
I can not thank either the development team or Stramm enough.
Again, Thank you.

[Edit GauGau] Moved and merged on purpose. Also created a corresponding note in the board where this has originally been posted (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,51086.0.html). @Hein: don't move that posting back! [/Edit]

I just want to sincerely thanks the coppermine developers for this wonderful gallery.
There is no other gallery that are more great than coppermine, imho.

Thanks for all of your effort and time.
Coppermine is my one and only gallery. Love it. ^_^

I want to say "Thank you" to all of you finally too. I use Coppermine since... a year or so now - including some questions I had to ask *gg*. It is a great gallery with many possibilities and its all for FREE! In a world where money is ruling nearly everything this is a great relief!

Hello,
With very limited experience and no formal education in computer science, I set out to make an interactive web site for professional photographers in my family.  It took months to search, try and discard several programs.  About two months ago the new Internet host introduced me to Coppermine.  PHP wasn't even in my vocabulary.  I plunged in anyway.

The site is now working.  And although I installed four copies to let me set up four pricing lists I am estatic with the features of Coppermine and simplicity of the program.  (I'll just delete cookies when needed)

Many hours and teamwork (who are Coppermine addicts!) brought this about.  I am grateful to each contributor.

Please know on December 23, 2008 my children can say, "Happy 80th birthday, mom."

Title: Long time Coppermine User
Post by: mooxe on August 03, 2008, 03:42:31 pm
Howdy,

Been using Coppermine for four years now on a PHP-Nuke site. Its works great. I have enjoyed my experience with it so much that I have decided to start a new stand alone coppermine gallery at http://www.combatgallery.com. I have close to 15,000 images queued for upload. After a few weeks of researching other photo gallery software such as 4Images, Gallery, Photopost and a ton of others, none of them came close to the amount of customization and easy template manipulation as Coppermine does. So thank you Coppermine Team, its a great product.

Title: General newbie comment on Coppermine site
Post by: celandine on August 19, 2008, 10:31:36 am
I'm a photogallery newbie who began with gallery2 and became totally disenchanted with the program! Anywhere I went 'I could not see the wood for the trees'. Then I found Coppermine and what strikes me immediately is the 'greater sense of your clarity of purpose' over here which is oh-so-encouraging for the newbie. I'm now looking to ditch my G2 this morning because of a distinct lack of clear instruction and support in order to customise a standard template in to an existing web site. I do like the cleaner look and clarity of your site and forums. Well done team! I just hope I can achieve my goal with your help.

Adding my two bits of thanks.

It was easy to install, easy to configure the themes and the support board provided a simple plugin to change the menus. Many Thanks from a non coder.

I wish to add my thanks as well. I have been testing the 1.5.1 version on my test site (http://www.pplb.net) in conjunction with SMF RC1.2 and Portamx and I must say I am impressed! ;D

The Bridge works a treat 8)

Hi to the dev team.  I just want to say how impressed and satisfied I am with Coppermine.  When I was looking for some kind of image storage/display package there really only seemed 2 to choose from.  Coppermine & Gallery.  I tried Gallery and found it too complex and demanding.  So after testing Coppermine I was sold on it, so it is now installed on my website.

The images stored are accessed via Cpmfetch (another gr8 piece of software) and Highslide.  It has been a steep learning curve because I have never used PHP before or a gallery util on a website, and I had several hair pulling sessions before I finally managed to get it integrated into my website as I wanted it, visually blending in.  To be honest, the user doesn't actually see Coppermine as yet.  I'm simply using it as a database storage facility. I managed to install & configure it quite well, referring to the documentation and this support site.   I was determined not to be the recipient of the teams vitriolic replies to badly posted support queries, so read and reread the docs & support forums, and even scoured the internet for answers to any problems I encountered.

I find it an easy to use database gallery and the end result was well worth all the effort.  Maybe in the future I will extend the user access to uploading their own images, but at the moment I simply want to be able to display me images.

Again thanks for all your hard work bringing this gr8 package this far.  I can't wait to see what happens in the future.

I want to thank the makers of this wonderfull piece of software...I was surching and surching for a program like this and come to find (with Google) first of all Zenith and Piwigo and tried them both...they don't come near Coppermine!
To bad that I didn't find Coppermine right away, ignorant me  ;D
Everything works wonderfull out of the box, great layout, great futures, great forum, great explanation, great translation ect. ect....what could you want more... i could only imagine how hard it is to make such a great program..

Therefore..praise all the makers..

I have upgraded to 1.5.3RC from 1.4.x and I am very pleased with the new version and there are still little things that will get ironed out before the the final release. I have run all the beta's and first tested the in place update (upgrade) in a testing directory and restored database and all went OK so I finally upgraded to the 1.5.3 RC.

The speed is very good and I use the two plug-ins Slider en EnlargeIT which give Coppermine a modern look and feel. Danke Timo!!

The manual for upgrading is not easily to find and I think al lot of people will look for it.

Because of the silly spam postings that this thread appears to attract like honey attracts bees (and bears) I'm locking and un-stickyfying it, as it's annoying to delete those postings over and over. Sorry to all non-spammers. If you appreciate what coppermine devs did for you, take a look at the thread We need your help (http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php/topic,14227.0.html)

Great job guys, the new 1.5 CPG is terrific. Thanks for all your time, hard work and your expertise in developing this great application. I've ran into a few minor glitches but overall it's superb.  I would like to personally thank you for all your time and effort donated in putting together this gallery.

Thank you ;D
