Are you working with a custom theme? If so, you have to modify that theme to work with CPG 1.4.2.

For the time being make sure you are using one of the themes that came with 1.4.2.

Hi, thanks for the help.

I'm working with hardwired theme just as it comes in the pack. Just made a little change on the left-banner. I uploaded the original but still not working.

@fotogliptia

Try switching languages back to English in CONFIG. I noticed that your search page doesn't display properly.  I suspect either a faulty language file OR that some files are corrupted or didn't get updated properly if this was an upgrade install.

Thanks Dennis.
Yes it was un upgrade. I followed the book. (i guess)
As a matter of fact, I stayed with the 1.3 brazilian-portuguese file lang, since the one that come with the 1.4 pack was all messed up (with strange caracters). But I switched to this one with the some result.
Plus: I cant acess config.php with the browser because it says that I have no permission.
It will be to much if you tell me what line should I change in the config.php file to turn the language back to english?
Should I re-upgrade?
Thanks a lot

arlindo,

just type in your URL like:

http://www.yourwebsite.com/coppemine/index.php?lang=English

That should change it back to English.

arlindo,

Re-download the entire 1.4.2 package and redo the installation procedures.  Looks like some files were not uploaded properly or corrupted during the download or upload step.

I created a user account on your setup but that doesn't work either.

I've just experienced this on one of my production installs. After putting in my admin credentials, I got the "welcome admin" message with the continue button, after pressing continue, I was back on as the guest user, with no admin menu of course.

By chance I had debug on and this was in the output:

Code: [Select]

What I discovered with phpmyadmin is that the session_id field was a varchar 11 or 13 I don't remember which, which is way too small to hold the session_id.

I dropped the sessions table, re-ran update.php and then was able to login normally.  I have no idea how the sessions_id field ended up so small. I wen't back through the CVS history, and when it was added session_id was a varchar 40.

Very strange,

I can't find anything in the sql files that would have done that to sessions_id.
At least it gives us a place to look.  I think this is the second poster with this dilemna.

Arlindo,

Did you read the post above by donnoman?

Check your database's sessions table.
check the session_id table.
Make sure that it is set at 40

session_id, varchar, 40, not null

Take a look at your include/config.inc.php and see if there are any blank lines at the start or end of the file. Have you modified this file in any way ?

Yes i've changed it, putting the line define('SILLY_SAFE_MODE', 1);
The two last line are empty: lines 18 + 19

Did you edit it with something fancy ?

Replace it with the clean version attached to this post.

Also, it's not a good idea to post db information on open forums.

If you click on the equivalent to "User Mode" you will see that "User Mode" button switches to "Admin".  The other two buttons may be visible only when certain features are enabled in Config.

I can't say because I really don't know which two buttons those may be.

Got it!

The buttons appear when turn back the language to english. The dont appear in portuguese.  By the way, I stayed with the brazilian-portuguese lang file from version 1.3, since the one in th 1.4 pack is all messed up with strange characters (letters). Later, i will change the 1.3 to the 1.4 version, and if it works, I'll have to change the file manually, or is there another way. The problem is with letters like ç ã ú, etc.

However i cant upload photos.

Arlindo,

apply this fix.  http://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/index.php?topic=24075.msg111088#msg111088

Then put back the 1.42 brazilian-portuguese lang file.

Hi
The charset was solved, but in brazilian-portuguese, the "configuration", "sort my pictures" and "documentation" dont show up, and so i cant use them. have to use the browser to enter in the configuration set.
What to do about it?
Thanks

Enable ' Fallback to English if translated phrase not found?' in config.

Arlindo,

Search the English language file for the entries that are missing in the brazil file. Then add those entries into the appropriate place in the brazil file.  USE a text editor, do NOT use any fancy wordprocessing or html processing program.

there's a full translator guide, why don't you consider translating cpg1.4.x: http://coppermine-gallery.net/demo/cpg14x/docs/translation.htm
Title: Re: After upgrade no admin

Yeah...
anyway I'll have to do it 'cause the brazilian-portuguese and the portuguese files are incomplete... i mean there's features in the english 1.4 file that dont show up in the 1.3 pt files.

Wish me luck! :)

Arlindo
Title: Re: After upgrade no admin
Post by: Joachim Müller on November 29, 2005, 01:13:15 am
exactly, those files have been made for cpg1.3.x All new features that exist in cpg1.4.x are of course untranslated in those old versions, that's why we introduced the language fallback feature: in the place of the missing translations, the english phrases shine through in their place. So yes, portuguese and brazilian_portuguese haven't been designed for cpg1.4.x. This is all being desribed in the translator guide and the sticky thread about cpg1.4.x translations on the announcement board. They should give you an idea what language files are "true" cpg1.4.x language files (that have been built for it) and which ones are just cpg1.3.x files that can be used as a workaround (it's better to have them than no translation at all).
However, this thread originally dealt with something else and has been resolved, so I had my share of thread drift. Let's end this now - for details, please continue the discussion on the language thread.
