Title: Auto Watermarks
Post by: FatherStorm on December 09, 2003, 08:03:33 pm
Add code to auto-watermark images. here is an example, hacked out in a few basic lines of PHP, needs GD 2.

http://www.fatherstorm.com/f1.php?i=http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/demo/albums/userpics/normal_41.jpg&o=Coppermine
(https://forum.coppermine-gallery.net/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fatherstorm.com%2Ff1.php%3Fi%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Fcoppermine.sourceforge.net%2Fdemo%2Falbums%2Fuserpics%2Fnormal_41.jpg%26amp%3Bo%3DCoppermine&hash=8fd69e33dbb828900dfc5660574f7ab80f5e2706)
i is the image
o is the owner name

it prints the owner, date, time requesting IP and requesting gateway.
any chance of incorporating this into coppermine?

may I ask, what is the point?
Title: watermarking

I sometimes prefer that if I spend a lot of time working on an image, I would like someone to at least have to put a *bit* of effort into taking the image and removing the evidence that it is not theirs. the watermark is actually rendered onto the image so that it would actually have to be cropped off in a image editing program. If it turns up later on the internet, I can at least tell when it was taken and to some degree, by who.

I guess Oasis' question was not "what is a watermark for", but "what's the point of sharing just an image?".
We know that the technique exists (see my signature or the dev team time zone map on the about (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/team/) page), but the question is: do you have some code to share to make this integrate nicely into coppermine?
