Title: "Best of"-View

Because I use to upload quite a lot photos and am very lazy in pre-selecting only the best pics, some of my visitors had the idea of a "best-of"-view to each album.

Technically it could be something like the "best rated"-view. But instead of all visitors just the uploader and/or gallery admin is able to rate his selection of "best" pics.

I searched the forum and found the "pic of the week"-mod, but that's not exactly what I had in mind :-)

This is possible with v 1.4. You would add the "best of" keyword, and create an album that will show all images that include "best of" in the keywords. 1.4 is still in beta and comes with caveats listed in the sticky in the testing board.

I'm very exciting to have the final version of 1.4 and the keywords system : in my opinion, it's THE feature of the next version of CPG.

is'nt that the same as going to an album and clicking Top Rated?
would'nt it be easier to rate the pics than type Best of?
Or am i missing something TranzNDance?

According to the initiator of this thread, the "best of" would be self-rated pics by the uploader him/herself.  It would have less to do with what the public would choose, than being simplly the uploader's favorites from each album or category.

That wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but I'll try and test the 1.4 beta if it works ok for me.

Hmmm. I tried, but I fear it's not what I wanted.

What I thought about:

- a checkbox (or something like that) underneath each pic in "edit files" view,  like in the "Pic of the Day/Month"-Mod I've seen around here. To mark the selection of pics for the "best of"-album.

- a link/button above each album page (like for the sort order) to switch between full and "best of" view.

- maybe the user should get the "best of"-view (if available) by default.


Does anyone around here think such a mod could be useful?
How difficult would it be to write it? I'm not a big insider of coppermine, but with some hints where to start I'd like to try...   ;D
