Hello
Would it be hard to add a function that could easily manage sub-categories of a category. In the current release, all categories have to be loaded every time...
Thanks in advance
Frederic

categories can be nested infinitely, in all coppermine versions. Request turned down, as it's invalid.

A new category manager is needed, I agree.

I'm not a developper, but my idea was:
Like the album manager, where you can see the albums / category, there should be a category manager where you can see the subcategories under a category.
Kind regards,
Frederic

What I see, all this page could be in XMLHTTPREQUEST ... with this function, a lot of time is won ... This system category is perfect when you have 5 or 10 categories .... but when you have 100 and more categories, it's the hell ... you create a new category, and you click ... click ... click ... click ... click ... 50 times if the category has to be put in the middle of 100 categories ...
xmlhttprequest or of course, like the album manager (very easy to change the levels)

That would be the best way, but the category manager needs to work for all platforms and browsers so the scope for such fun stuff is quite limited.

Try loading this...

heheheh impressive !!! :)
We still stay on the same problem ... tables are used only for backward compatibility ... I think if someone wants to manage a powerful gallery, he hasn't to surf with Lynx or Mosaic ...

Well, I know how it is to load 354 categories like on my site, ...

I agree with this request. The greater the number of categories, the more unwieldly it becomes when you make any change. Some kind of batch processing would be very helpful. (You edit category names, move categories into another location, etc, then click on "Update" and everything is done at once - rather than having to wait a long time for each change to take place.
I'm not sure I understand GauGau's objection about categories being "nested infinitely", thereby making this unfeasible. The same is true of Albums, yet you can batch edit all albums in the same category as much as you want and then update them all at once. You should be able to select a parent category, and then batch edit all immediate child categories in the same manner.

as stated above: a new category manager is being considered for the future.
