When I create an Album as Admin, I can assign a category. When a user creates a user album, the category is some combination of the user_id eg.10040

How does this work?

If i view the coppermine galleries the Admin ones are all visable, the user ones not.

I have seen a cpg site where there is a menu option =coppermine&cat=1 shows a page with all the user albums on, even though each user album has a categoty like 10040.

How can I do this too?

I don't know what you are asking. The user galleries cat is a special category. If the link has =coppermine&cat=1 then it is not the standalone version that is supported here.
