Title: Dynamic browsing of images
Post by: pnear on February 26, 2005, 11:42:26 pm
We're certainly getting alot closer in 1.4, but I'd like dynamic browsing to be even more hands-off than it is shaping up to be.

Current (1.4):
Can search by keyword, can set up an album to dynamically link to files based on keywords.

Requests:

KEYWORD DRILLDOWN ALBUM
Top-level folders manually defined by a combination of keyword and date (ie camping pictures from 2004)
Additional folders appear below that comprising each keyword found in the subset.
Recurse in a similar fashion to the lowest level.
At each point in the browse, show images that match this particular level of the keyword hierarchy.

DATE DRILLDOWN ALBUM
Create some sort of timeline browser (reference Picasa of Photoshop Elements) and allow users to click through the timeline.
Timeline might highlight areas with many pictures, popular pictures, etc.

Alternatively, reuse the keyword drilldown idea but instead drilldown by year, month, day.

The Picasa that you mentioned... is it the same as Google's Picasa (http://www.picasa.com/index.php)?

Yes.
