Title: Add text to Index.php Only

I'd like to add a block of text that will only show on the Index.php page.  Like is shown in the graphic.

It seems that the visable elements of that page all come from templates.php.   I added the text successfully to the templates.php and it shows on all pages, not too good.

I'm sure there is a way to do this but I'm lost on the technique.
